Conceiving After Miscarriage

I miscarried Monday, November 26th :(. I started spotting last Wednesday at 8 1/2 wks & the baby had a heartbeat.  I was put on progesterone & still spotted all weekend.  The progesterone wasn't strong enough because Monday when my results came back my doctor ordered me to double my dose & come in for another ultrasound.  Well when we went in for the ultrasound the baby hadn't grown much nor did the baby have a heartbeat. :( It broke my heart along w/ my husbands.  I blame myself although everyone tells me there is nothing I could of done.  I just wish I would of known to go ahead & double the progesterone but I was scared too much would of hurt the baby.  Plus I read that some people bleed during pregnancy anyways so I was hoping that was happening with me.
Well my doctor advised me to have the D & C done which I did Monday night & am still bleeding.  No pain & the bleeding is NOT heavy.  But I want to be pregnant STILL!!  I miss my little angel already!  I have a 3 yr old & I told him the baby is with God but will be back when he/she is all better.  My doctor told me to wait until I have 1 period & then I can start trying!  I am praying I get pregnant right away!  Anyone out there that did conceive right away?  Also, what are the chances of miscarrying again? I don't want to ever go through this again!!  Also, does anyone know a natural way to boost your progesterone?? I know prescriptions but I was wondering if there was any food you could eat to help??   Thanks for all your help & any advice is helpful!  I am still just an emotional wreck!!

Hiya, I'm 17 years old and I had my first miscarriage on the 12th of march and I had unprotected sex with my ex partner on the 26th of march to the 2nd of april as I wasn't bleeding much, I had a bit of bleeding whilst with him during those dates but wasn't major, but all I keep wanting to do now is eat and sleep, I was throwing up the other night as well, I would just like some advice?

Sorry for losses ladies and bfp!!
I m/c in july @ 8wks with my first m/c, after 5mths of trying.
It took me 4mths to get pregnant again only to end in m/c @9wks5days,
My third m/c took me 4mths agin to concieve(27th jan 2009)
I had d&c with all loses,
I read where on of you ladies wrote that a 2nd m/c is not likely, we thats what i thought but now 3 in a row?
Im 40yrs old, had tubal reversal in feb 2007, did two cycles of ivf b4 having tubes reversed, that was my first m/c.
I dont have low progesterone in fact the oppisit my levels are great dpo5 this mth 48.2
Im taking baby asprin as dr said it would help blood flow, as im a smoker, and good blood flow is important, but im trying to quit:)
I think most dr dont check progesterone, and its important to monitor it, my p4 was 20,000 @ 9wks, and drop when i started to spot.
Very quickly, i may add.
Its now 3mths since last m/c and im 8dpo today, having tender bbs, and nausea, so fingersxxxx
I wish i was as lucky as you all to fall pregnant the next mth:)

I am so sorry :(  I felt pretty similiar about my m/c.  I am so careful about this toxin and that food and this bath temp and that sick person . . . sometimes these things are beyond our control.  I have to say that these forums have been so helpful . . . because of all of the honesty and support.  Out in the real world people are sometimes reluctant to share and that can make you feel very lonely.

What I know about progesterone is that it is only useful if the prob really is only a low preogesterone problem.  That is pretty rare.  A lot of docs give it as a back up when spotting to catch a low prog problem if that is the problem.  When there is something else wrong, tho, like a chromosomal thing, the progesterone won't do anything.

You did everything you could. . .

Your chances of miscarrying are slim to none. My doctor told me that every woman miscarries at least once, maybe twice, in her reproductive lifetime. The fact you already have a child, before the miscarriage means it was not a progesterone issue, because I also had a toddler when I miscarried. It was probably a genetic abnormality/blighted ovum, which means that a baby never actually developed or developed with missing chormosomes.

But it was still your baby, and you have every right to be upset about it. I'm not trying to minimize that whatsoever, but wanted you to know why you probably miscarried.

Again, I got pregnant my first cycle after my miscarriage! My baby turned 9 months TODAY!!! She was born four days before the date I found out I was pregnant with the pregnancy I lost. I found out I was pregnant on March 28 and miscarried in April. My daughter was born March 24th the following year. And here she is 9 months old at the time I WOULD have had that pregnancy I lost (a year later, of course).

Sorry if that was confusing. My point is that I can not imagine life without my daughter and I actually never really think about my miscarriage (unless I'm here trying to encourage others). She is such a blessing and really is the sweetest baby I've ever seen. She never cries, she just jabbers and laughs and claps her hands, and when she smiles she has ONE little tooth in her lower gums that you can see.

You'll get your BFP soon!

I'm in tha same boat....missed miscarriage followed by a D&C 2 weeks ago today......Want to TTC ASAP as I'm 33 and don't want to be an OLD Mom!  My Doc told me to wait 3 cycles before trying, but we're just going let whatever happens, happen......As far as progesterone goes, I'm not really sure about the safe levels etc....Mine must have been OK b/c they never mentioned it...although who knows....my office is none too impressive!  I'm very sorry for you having to go thru this and wish you (and everyone else) LOTS of luck in 2008!!

I'm very sorry for your loss :(
I mc in August at 12 weeks. It was a missed mc -the baby had stopped growning sometime around 6 weeks but my body still continued to think it was pregnant for another 6!!
I was told to wait one cycle, which we did. Unfortunately it's been 3 months trying with no luck yet. I'm wondering if it's becauseI mc so late, maybe it takes a while for my body to get back to normal.

I totally understand about you wanting to be pregnant right away. Hopefully you'll be one of those lucky ones that gets pregnant first try after mc :)
Good luck and baby dust to you!

I m/c at 5 weeks or so (we dont know how far along since I am breastfeeding my 8 mo old) and I am not waiting for another period to TTC...my doc says every woman has a 1 in 4 chance of miscarriage.  A 2nd mc is still 1 in 4.  After you have two m/c's then your chances of a third increase!

I am so sorry for your loss!  I hope you can get a positive quickly!  It is hard though...I just lost a baby girl at 41 weeks pregnant (with no answers) and have started trying again.  That is all my body knows and I believe will help me in my greiving process.  I think once you have a normal period you should be able to start right away.  You can also have b/w done anytime to check your levels...whatever gives you that peice of mind.  Good Luck!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have gone thru a spontaneous miscarriage on 9/29 :(. I have never been more depressed. After many weeks of grieving, i began TTC again. No luck yet. But i do hope this is my month. I ovulated on 12/7. No symptoms yet though.  But my BBT has been elevating. My temp is now 98.3.  Does anyone know what your average BBT should be when pregnant?  And can you be pregnant and have no symptoms?  Sorry really anxious to get pregnant again. Thanks, and Baby Dust to you all :)

I'm so sorry for your loss hun. I miscarried my first baby Nov 22nd at 13 weeks. We missed our little one sooo much too and wanted to get pregnant right away. I had a natural miscarriage so as soon as my HCG levels went back down to 0 we started trying again. We started trying on 12/3 and than I realized that I was Ovulating on 12/10....so it took me only 2 in a half weeks to Ovulate after the m/c and we're crossing our fingers that we're pregnant again! And if we are, than I got pregnant in less than 3 weeks after my m/c. I'll let you know our results! Should be soon! Good Luck!

After my first miscarriage, I waited three months until trying again and it took us 7 months to conceive. Unfortunately, I miscarried that one also. This pregnancy was a complete surprise. We weren't going to start trying until the following month but my period never came. And this pregnancy is healthy.  I really believe stress has a lot to do we conceiving. I was too stressed out about it when I was actively trying.

Before my first I had a m/c at 11 weeks.  I waited 3 months before trying again and got pregnant right away.  Now I have 5 beautiful children, including 1 set of twins.   A good friend of mine had a m/c and concieved about 5-6 weeks after.  Good Luck!!

I had a miscarriage and got pregnant  again 6 weeks later. I'm now 35 1/2 weeks and she is perfectly healthy. They usually tell you to wait a cycle mainly for dating purposes.

Thank you for your post & that is very encouraging!!  It makes me have hope when I hear others success stories!
I did NOT have progesterone problems w/ my 3 YR old but with the miscarriage my levels were VERY low.
Thanks again for your comments & it does give me hope!  We will be trying as soon as my 1st cycle comes & goes!!

I got pregnant my first cycle after my m/c in Apr 2006. I now have an 8-month-old beauty who is the sweetest, happiest baby I've ever seen (I also have a 2 year old). I had no complications with the pregnancy but I was TERRIFIED the ENTIRE pregnancy. I had a hard time bonding with her for fear I'd lose her too. The fact that you have a 3 yr old tells me that you can do this. Did you have progesterone issues with that pregnancy? If not, then you don't need anything to boost progesterone. Of course, your doc can talk with you about that more than I.

It is possible to safely have a healthy baby immediately after a m/c. GOOD LUCK!!!

Thank you for your comments.  I am too taking my prenatal vitamins still & no more caffeine!!  My doctor said once I get pregnant she will test me that day or the next & start me on progesterone if needed.  I am just worried!!  I know stress is not healthy but I am sure when I get pregnant again I will be a nervous wreck before every appointment worried if a heartbeat will be there.

I am sorry too for your loss!  Good luck to you  & I hope you conceive quickly & have a healthy happy baby! :)-

I am so sorry for your loss - the only advise I can give you is to not stress out trying to get preg.  I wanted to get preg right after my loss and did the charts and ovulation tests and no luck for a year - then I got pissed off, threw all of the tests, charts, and calendars away.  I told God that I give up "do what you want".  I got preg the next month.  so please don't stress out - it screws your body all up.  You will get preg again

I am so sorry to hear about you loss. We lost our daughter at 20 weeks in Oct, and this is our first cycle trying again. I have heard lots of stories of people getting pregnant right away, so it can happen!
Please don't beat yourself up about the progesterone. You did everything you could, and honestly, with the growth and heartbeat stopping, it really sounds like there was nothing you could do. Most miscarriages are due to the baby having life threatening problems, and it would happen no matter what. That was the case with my baby, but she was able to grow and have a great heartbeat until 20 weeks, then couldn't do it any longer.
I think the chances for having a repeat miscarriage after one are just about the same as for everyone else, around 15%. And remember reading stories on here--people are often coming here for answers after a loss, which makes it seem much more common.
I don't know of any foods that will help-maybe someone else will have ideas. I have totally stopped drinking anything with caffeine in it, and am taking my vitamins regularly. I'm taking my prenatal as well as folic acid and B6.
Good luck, things will get better. Hang in there!!!
