Constipation during pregnancy (tmi sorry)

Okay this is probably tmi, but I'll try to keep it G-rated. I have been severly constipated this past week and half. I have been eating prunes ( a bag a day) and drinking Metamucil, and of course lots of water. I also eat bran cereal every morning which in the past has always done the trick. All these things I've done had caused diarrhea, but it wouldn't even come out (just a tiny bit that's how I know). It's really weird! Now the diarrhea is gone, and I have stomach cramps and very uncomfortable feeling. Do you think I should be concerned, and go to the doc? I've always heard that constipation isn't really that serious. I know they don't want you taking laxatives during pregnancy. I am feeling pretty desperate at this point.

Thanks guys, I am feeling a little bit better after drinking a whole jug of prune juice..lol
Yes I think I'll try Miralax next, I wasn't sure if it was safe, but I called doc and they said go for it.

Constipation is so normal.  A lot of doctors allow stool softners but not atual laxatives.  I wonder if you over fibered yourself LOL if that is even possible.

My dr told me drinking lots of water & exercising can help!! Good Luck!

Some prenatals have stool softners I had to take while pregnant. My dr also said that miralax is safe since it's gental and doesn't cause cramping.

Honestly I probably wouldn't take anything else right now.  You're having the cramps and stuff because of all the fiber you have already consumed.  I would try to just continue with the water until at least tomorrow morning.  I hope it gets better.
