Contractions? What's going on?

I'm am a first time mom :). And I've noticed for about two days now. My tummy gets really hard and it stays like that for a while. Ok, like an hour maybe. And if feels like he is pushing out. Kinda freaks me out because I can't sit comfortably. Is this normal?  Or does it mean I'm getting close? I feel like I'm super sore in my groin area. And that totally hurts when I get up in the morning. Anyone else experiencing this???  Oh! I'm 36weeks and 1day.

Lol my little man is totally doing that. My sister was holding my tummy and he totally did that. She freaked out. Lol but thank you so much. Very helpful.

Yes if it's only part of your stomach baby is probably just pushed out awkwardly. My little girl used to hang out on my right side and push out so my belly was constantly lopsided!

It really is uncomfortable. But that is helpful. Thank you. Lol that's a really good way to describe it. But contractions is your whole tummy hardening right? I'm like so new to this

The hurt in your groin is probably baby's head. If baby has already dropped and is sitting low it's pretty uncomfortable! But as for contractions: when you feel one coming on, press lightly on your stomach. If it's a contraction you're going to feel it harden from about the texture of the tip of your nose into something that feels more like your forehead.
