teen mama is right, they sound like BH if they vary in time, frequency and strength - "real" contractions get longer and closer together the more they go on, and self checking is not recommended by your Dr / Midwife as you don;t know what you;re doing and risk passing an infection to baby.

Happens to me. I went into preterm labor last week at 34 weeks. And those lasted 5-7 mins and was at night.. But now I only normally get painful ones again at night too. My doctor said Braxton Hicks cause they only normally come at night. But don't self check for dilation.. If you don't know what your doing you could do something wrong. (That's what my doctor told ME)
check yourself how dilated you are, if 3 or more cm, go to hospital:)
Braxton Hicks contractions ( false contraction) are normal it's just your body getting ready for the big day!
