Contractions

Do contractions feel like bad menstral cramps ?or some please explain I think I'm having them now

Im 39 weeks and i get period like cramps in lower belly. My son has already dropped. It feels like a mix of period cramps and gas pain + alotttt of pressure. Changing positions does not take it away && it usually starts with major back pain. Is this contractions?

Start timing them because for my first son everyone said it feel like bad period cramps or gas pains... to me my period cramps felt wayyy worse so if it wasnt for my mom being down here with me and telling me look you are in labor we need to go to the hospital I was probably going to have the baby on my bed!! I was 7cm when I got to the hospital and still felt pretty good to be in labor...

It depends. If you change position, (sitting, laying) and the pain goes away. Or if you can walk through them, they're most likely braxton Hicks. You could be having strong braxton hicks that feels very similar to real labor contractions. But if the pain is there no matter what you do, comes in consistent with intervals, increase in intensity, then it's labor!

They do, they feel like really strong period cramps mixed with those bad stomach pains you get when you have diarrhea.  I know TMI but that's really what it feels like

I have those! But my midwife said they were braxton hicks... everyone tells me that braxton hicks dont feel like that but also that contractions dont either.. so I never known if im having a contraction or braxton hick

Thats how mine felt but over the whole stomach.
