6 to 8 lbs for the baby, 1-2 pounds in your boobs, 1-2 lbs placenta, 1-2 pounds uterus, and 2-3 pounds amniotic fluid, total of 25-35 pounds of weight gain per pregnancy. http://www.babyyourbaby.org/duringpregnancy/weightgain.htm
10 pounds is not healthy at all girl. You should ask another doctor for a 2nd opinion.

10 lbs isnt healthy!!! The recommended weight gain is bc 25-35 lbs! And only 3-4 lbs of this weight shouldnt do with the baby, the rest has places to go! I heard Aveeno & natural face washes are best for you & your body!! Im not sure the possible effects they could have on a baby.

LOL well, a fash wash definatly isnt going to affect the baby if thats what you mean. or cosmetics.......... ive actually never heard of this..... i mean the best you can do is take care of your diet, for exampkle no junk food.---- i never once ate from any fast food place while i was pregnant. eat many fruits and veges........ pay more attention to what goes in your body. drink 8 glasses of water, juice should be limited.......... eat whole grains....... rice pasta, not "mac n  cheese" but the real stuff with maybe some prego sauce (2 servings of veges ) in sauces like that. and \dont forget your protiens, lean meat is best bc you want to keep in mind, weight gain, doctors dont like when women esp. if someone is overweight gain weight................. if your as thin as a toothpick then yes 30 lbs is recommended, for example when i get prego, i shouldnt gain any more then 10lbs.  bc im around 138lb now, i was 113lb b4 my first child.
