Cramping after Miscarriage

Almost exactly a month ago I started feeling very pregnant: morning sickness, lightheaded-ness, starving, cramping, and very tired. Then I started bleeding for 5 days, with lower back pain and some other symptoms that made me 99% positive I miscarried. Now, three weeks later I am still cramping lightly and randomly leaking thick mucus. Yesterday I was cramping really heavily for several hours; I could swear I was in the middle of my period. Morning sickness finally went away a few days ago. The weird thing is, I never took a preg test that came out positive. I figured it was a really early miscarriage, but I don't understand why it's taking so long to heal if that's the case. Is this normal? I know everyone says go to the doctor, but I can't really afford it right now.

Yeah, I think I'll have to go to the doctor. Last night I woke up feeling what I think was light contractions. I've never given birth so I can't be sure. But, the room was also spinning and my heart was pounding. I was thinking maybe I hadn't fully passed everything and it would last night, but nothing happened beyond that. Thanks for your reply.

Without a positive test, it's impossible to say if you had a miscarriage at all. Symptoms DO NOT mean you're pregnant. Many women, including myself, have 'pregnancy' symptoms on a daily basis. Everything you've described can match virus, low blood sugar, PMS, hormonal imbalance, etc. If you suspect you DID miscarry, yes you have to go to a doctor. There are many clinics that do pay based on a sliding scale. It's possible that there is remaining tissue, and if this is the case it can cause severe infection or death in the female. It's not something to play around with or something to put off.
