Crib vs. Pack and play

We don't have a lot of space. And I want something that will l grow with her, hate spending more  money than I have to. I need my son and new baby to sleep close to me just for peace at mind. Which was more convenient for you? And how did you manage with toddler? Second time mom, and it feels like a big adjustment!

I have a bassinet I can move anywhere in the house, a pack & play, which will come in handy not only for me but for my younger sister who has a son who'll be about a year older than my baby, it has the top part a baby can sleep on including a changing area & the bottom so they can play in & a crib that can change into a toddler bed.

I think the fully decked pack and play sounds more convenient, I need a bassinet for when she is first born and and seems like a lot of pack and play are built to grow with baby , at least for awhile. And of course she will get her own toddler bed when the time is right. Thanks ladies, your inputs are always appreciated!

Pack n play has kinds where the are bassinets, then platy pins, a diaper changing table,  & they are mobile.
Cribs turn into day beds, & full size bed.  .. so u will need a toddler bed with a play pin. My 9 mo old has a play pin. On her bday she will b getting her big sisters toddler bed & her big sis will get a twin size bed.

If you want to look for a good used one there's an app/ website I used. Like it better than craigslist.  It's called offer up check it out. It might be up and running where u live if not then craigslist.

I bought a "used" convertible crib from a military wife who's husband was being stationed somewhere else another and she needed it gone. I paid $150 for it and it had been put together but her parents bought her one with the full set so she never used the one she sold me. It's new and it's a 3 in 1 convertible crib. I also bought the rock n play sleeper. It's portable so I can have him near me when I'm cleaning, of course it's only gonna be good for a while but I love it because it also inclines and vibrates also well. I would never buy a used crib but it was new and came with an orthopedic mattress at a great price. U can go that route as well just make sure if you do make sure it hasn't been recalled and expiration date.

Pack and plays aren't meant for full time sleeping.  The mattress does not offer enough back support and they aren't held to the same safety regulations as cribs.  The March of Dimes puts out a lot of information about this.  The pack and play is smaller but the crib would probably be a safer bet for the long run.

I have a pack n play with attached bassinet. My husband and I are both from 3rd world countries and don't see the necessity in an actual crib. We never had one OR a pack n play. When they become ready for their bed as a toddler we plan to let them pick it out. Its not that money is an issue! Just don't want to buy stuff I'll probably never use

I have a crib and a pack n play and I set up the pack n play today and it doesn't seem like it should be the baby's full time bed. If your only going to get one I suggest a crib. A friend told me you can get good used cribs at a decent price on  craigslist!

I have a  pack n play and where the baby will lay is not anywhere near the floor. They do make them with bassinet type thing. But I also have a crib that turns into a toddler bed then a full size bed. I prefer pack n play until baby can flip over.

I say pack and play because it's cheaper when your baby grows you can rake out the top part and he or she can play in it.

My grandma bought us a pack and play. Ftm but it fits in our room and we have everything attached to it but the napper/bassinet part because I couldn't get it on. I've heard these can be good but I've heard negativities also. I think it would be okay for a pack and play but I wish I had a crib that turned into a toddler bed my baby sister had one and it was great.

Ohh, your soo strong! Lol I'm the biggest baby, the worst part of a new born was I so extremely worried about him, I could not sleep without feeling him next to me. Not even when my mom watched him to give me some rest. Even a year and a half later,I have his toddler bed between our bed and the wall and that's far enough! Lol with new baby hopefully I'm not as big of a baby and it will be easier to adjust.

Yeah I thought it was crazy too but better safe than sorry! My first born had a pack n play the first few months because we were living in a bedroom at my husbands parents at the time and didn't have the space for a crib! He got a crib when he was 5 months old and his own room! He will not sleep in the bed with us to save his life! He loves his privacy of his own room! Lol

Yea, I had a crib with my son and never used it. The size is really inconvenient, because I'm such a worry ward and needed to have him close to me while we slept, and the crib was just too bulky. But I know pack and plays have bassinet attachments, and a mattress level that is not so low. I'm really concerned with having her close to me, and I already have my toddler bed side, so it will be tough!

You should go with a crib! A lot more durable and in some states a pack n play isn't considered a proper place for a child to sleep!
My cousin had CPS called on her and she had to go buy a crib because they said her home was unfit unless he had a crib instead!! Crazy but hey I'd rather have what I'm supposed to begin with instead of having to buy it later!

I also have a crib that turns into toddler bed, I bought it for my toddler when he was little but we are gonna just buy him a toddler bed and give crib to baby since a toddler bed is cheaper to buy than another crib!

My crib goes from infant to toddler.  I would be worried about a pack and play just because it puts them so low to the ground. I got my crib at Babies R Us so it wasn't super cheap about $200 but I'm pretty sure you can find just about the same thing I've got for much cheaper.  Mine just happened to be a gift from my dad.
