When to consult a Gyno

I believe I'm about 3-4 weeks pregnant and it has taken my husband and I a whole year to conceive. It was such a wonderful suprise to get those 2 clear pink lines on the preg test. I want to know how long is it okay to see a gynecologist for our first consultation. When I called one doctor's office the receptionist advised that it's better to wait until I'm about 2 months pregnant before seeing the doctor and that stunned me and I didn't want to seem too eager so I said she can postpone it until then. But truth be told I would like to go immediately. Am I being too much of an over excited mommy to be?

I'm pregnant with my second and saw a different doctor for my first then I am currently seeing and both told me to wait till I was around 8 weeks. They do that cause they do a sonogram your first appointment to determine exactly how far along you are and to see that the baby is where it's suppose to be and if your any earlier then 7 weeks you can't even see the baby.

You can go to do a blood test just to confirm, but they will probably wait to do an ultra sound.

I was 6 weeks when I went in for my first appointment. It's never too soon. I would recommend calling a different Doctor.

I went when I was about a month and 5 days. There wasn't much to see, but I couldn't wait and wanted to go asap.

You can go at anytime and allow them to give you a packet of what to eat and what to take as far as meds. You can wait for your ultrasound and all that when the time comes. 1 stages are very critical so u want to make sure that your taking the right measures and eating the right things so you won't result in miscarriage. If you want to see someone now call around and than you can go to the one you prefer. I did that becuz everyone kept telling me to wait and I had a miscarriage before and I didn't want to take any chances. Congrats to you and I wish you a bless pregnancy

My doctor didn't give me an ultrasound my first appointment. They just asked a lot of questions. Maybe that's why they saw me earlier, idk.

My doctors office waits until 13 weeks to do the first visit unless you are high risk. It is definitely hard waiting but there's not much to see in the early weeks. Congrats!

I'm 37 weeks now with my first, but when I found out I was pregnant I called my midwife right away and she had me come in at 7 weeks. I was told that most places wait until 7 or 8 weeks because they do an untrasound at the first appointment to try and see exactly how far along you are.

I am pregnant with my 2nd currently 5-6 weeks and my doctor waits until 8 weeks for the prenatal check up (first appointment) because she gives an ultrasound to see exactly how far along you are and 8 weeks is really when you can see the baby good. I do know some docotors who see their patients rigjt away maybe call and schedule one with them if you are comfortable with switching doctors. Congrats! I wish you a healthy and easy pregnancy
