Cytotec?!?!

When i met with my mw today she was going over my induction.. She said theyd insert a tablet every 4 hours til i was in labor. I assumed this meant cervidil but upon further research, a tablet being inserted every 4 hours sounds more like Cytotec.. Which doing research on that it doesnt sound safe at all! Im very confused as to why shed use something unsafe w so many risks? Maybe im wrong and shes using cervidil but all the cervidil stories ive read are they got put in for 12 hrs and no one referred to the cervidil as a " tablet " like ppl did the Cytotec. Now im bummed and scared!!

I have heard that many hospitals will no longer allow cytotec to be used to induce labor. I am surprised that it is still being used places. I would talk to your MW tomorrow and tell them that you are not comfortable with that method of induction and you are requesting a safer more throughly researched medication. I would imagine that most people would not allow their OB or MW to use that medication. I know I would refuse treatment with that medication. No reason to use it when their are safer ways of doing the same thing.

Good luck and bravo on doing your research!

I'm not sure what mine was called, but it was a tablet. My labor was pretty easy, but we also used pitocin. True labor was only about 3 hours and I pushed for maybe ten minutes. Talk with your mw and let her know your concerns. Good luck with your induction, and I hope you have a quick easy labor.
