my dr. told me not to have sex until 2 weeks after I got it. It worked just fine for a little over 2 years, then I got pregnant while on it.  they suggest you dont use it over two years in a row. I found out why lol blessing in disguise.

I would never get that shot ever again. I got it and a few days later it made my arms and legs hurt. Had my husband pull my arms to make it not hurt. Plus Igained aalot of weight. I got it like Jan or Feb of 2011 and didn't redue my shot in may. Ended up getting pregnant February of 2012. I hated that shot! !

Plan b has to be taken within 72 hours, but is most effective within 24.

They tell you it takes awhile to get in your system, so yeah you can get pregnant if you just got it.

Sigh see and here I thought depo would be great for me because I was horrible with taking the pill and so many things can mess up the pill and make it not work, so hey a shot every three months? Great! I'm stressing even more about unplanned pregnancy than on the pill -.- ughhhhhhhh I hope were in the clear girlie! It's way too soon for me to be having another one lol

I was on depo vera and I had sex 2 weeks after like my doctor said I could. I was off it for 2 years before I finally got pregnant. I dont advise that type of birth control just because I gained soooo much wait and I worked out at the gym. Also caused alot of health problems for me and once I was ready to have a baby it took me forever!! You could get pregnant that soon after starting it but it depends when you are ovulating and if you are stressing over it I would wait and take a pregnancy test in a couple weeks just to be safe. They say to wait for a reason, you have to wait for it to kick in

Well it's common to actually get two periods a month for a while on depo so if that happens don't freak (I did lol) I'd say take a test if you think you miss your next period but with you being so newly pp idk if it'll show up positive because of leftover hcg or when you'll actually get a period. Like I said your best bet is to call your dr Monday and get some advice. Keep me updated thoug!

According to webmd it works immediately if given within the first five days of your period. So I'm guessing that my dr was right about the two weeks to a month thing. Had you gotten your period yet?

Where did you hear 12 weeks? My dr told me I was good to go two weeks after my first shot but to wait a month just to be safe..... Got me all kinds of scared now girl lol

Yes you can in fact the whole first 12 weeks are unsafe. I got pregnant 6 weeks into my first shot. You need to use protection until after your second shot, only then is it built up in your system.
