Back after a long break- Need some advice please

Hello everyone. Not sure if anyone will remember me or not. I had a miscarriage and D&C on March 4th. I went through a really rough time emotionally from all of that. Really suffered from depression and as a result had to leave this forum- it was just too much for me at the time.
I had horrible bleeding for about 7 weeks after the D&C and then spotted daily until August. I got on Seasonale birth control to try and regulate my periods and I will be done with the 3-month supply in 2 weeks. DH and I are finally ready to start trying again. I am looking for advice from anyone that has been through trying to get pregnant after a miscarriage. It was my only pregnancy and I'm so scared to go through that again.
Should I be doing or taking anything to prepare to conceive? If it does happen quickly for us, should I see the Dr. immediately to have them run any tests or look for anything specific? Or should I just wait until the 8 week mark which is what my Dr. office recommends. Last time I was spotting early and I requested to have my HCG drawn and an ultrasound at 6 weeks and they couldn't see anything that early. I then went back at 6 weeks, 4 days and we saw the baby and heartbeat at 120 BPM. The baby stopped developing at 9 weeks. I never found out why the miscarriage happened and if there is anything I can do to better prepare for the next time that would be very appreciative.

Thank You. I had the hcg test run during my last pregnancy and my numbers were incredible high and more than doubled each time. For me, it's hard to judge a viable pregnancy by that. I also had extreme morning sickness. I will call my Dr. as soon as I get a BFP and take it from there. Thank you for the advice.

hello, sorry for the MC you went through, losing a baby is hard. You can take prenatels to help your baby along, before you even know about it. And "Early" intervention is pretty impossible as MC happen on there own... unless you have some sort of disorder..... So id say dont announce anything till your 12 wks.... and give your doc a call once youll be 8 wks. :) Good Luck!!

I can understand the deep depression and mourning that you went through.  It is normal to grieve and take time away from these discussions to focus on yourself.  We're glad you're back and can give us insights, too.

From experience, most doctors won't begin runnig tests to find the reason for a miscarriage until it happens more than two or three times.  Who really wants to go through that?  The best preparation we can do is a diet based on good pregnancy nutrition (see book "What to Expect Before You're Expecting"), prenatal vitamins (even Target brand), and a healthy exercise regimen.  Good luck and welcome back!

Hello there! Glad to hear your back and trying again soon...Im not going to lie. After my m/c and d&c at 9-10w. We started trying again very soon, got pregnant after my 1st cycle. It was so hard, everytime I went in for an U/S my heart stopped....This lasted intill I was about 16 weeks or so, after that I could finally breath a lil better. After I found out I made an appt. with my OB asap! The 1st appt was just to confirm. the pregnancy then around 8w an U/s and then again at in a few weeks.( I did have some spotting at about 5w. but they wouldnt do an u/s) I was lucky that I got to see my baby every month (due to being high risk for other reasons) For that reinsurement(sp)....It was a hard pregnancy just because I was worried all the time, But Mr. Hunter is a health, Happy 2y/o now.

M/C's happen for a reason, Our bodies knows when something isnt right. Even know its so hard to go though one at any stage, its better earlier then later in a pregnancy. Good Luck on TTC
