I been needing to go, I have a cavity I need filled..the only thing is that I need an xray and It scared me when they told me I had to call my on to fax a paper and my on said I should only go if its serious..so I just canceled my appointment. My teeth been hurting but I don't want to hurt my baby....what do I do? And what will it do to my baby if I do go? I'm only 9 weeks and 2 days so I was thinking maybe wait till my 2nd trimester but still the baby's brain and lungs will still be forming....I dont want to hurt it or messup its growth.

I an 18 weeks and I went to the dentist 2 weeks ago and got 2 fill-ins :) I got an xray also. They cover you up extra good when your pregnant. All the way around your body. Seemed fine to me. I had to get a paper faxed from my doc to the dentist giving permission and my doctor said it would be ok.

I had two Xrays done while pregnant because of getting teeth fixed and my baby came out perfectly healthy. I did this in my third trimester. But most dentist like to do stuff in second trimester. So if you need a tooth fixed wait till second trimester

I went and had and x ray at my dentist a while back but there's is old school and ghetto and it just literally goes in your mouth and then they take the picture....I was double protected....I also had a cavity filled....they wanted to do a root canal also but I didn't do it. I just got the cavity filled. But me and baby are fine. Most if the time if your tooth problem is something serious they would rather have you get it taken care of cause it can turn into an abscess which is terrible for baby. But it's up to you. I did one and waited for the other. But good luck momma....I know them tooth aches are no joke.

I am a dental nurse and we don't advise you to have an xray unless it is extremely necessary, we always advise to wait until you have given birth :)

I'll just wait until I have the baby...I just wanted to see how many people actually went through an xray while pregnant  I guess not many....I'm glad I canceled my apt. BC the doctors didn't give me the information I needed to hear but then again they don't care its not there baby its money their worried about.

I suggest you wait untill your last trimaster. My doctor (both dentist and OB) told me it safe but the dentist has to double the vest thing. I almost had to xray mine but my dentist decided to wait after the baby is born cux it wasn't that setious.

Ob and dentist said you can and they do special care when your pregnant to prevent danger to the growing baby...I just want to know the risks and see who has experience.?

You can't get xrays... The radiation isn't safe for the baby.

Yes you can get X-rays. You just need to let your dentist know your pregnant and they take extra precausions. It's totally fine but remember you can't take any of the pain meds
