Depo after baby?

I'm thinking of getting the Depo shot after the baby is born. This will be my last baby and I want something that last longer than the pill, which is all I've ever been on. What are the pro's and con's of Depo? Any advice?

Depends on the IUD you get. Mirena can cause your cycle to stop (or in some women bleed continuously) but Paragard is non hormonal and generally won't cause any changes in your body other than maybe a heavier cycle. I got Paragard but due to the person doing it (she was a 'trainee') and having an unknown tilted uterus it perforated. If it hadn't I'd still have it now, it was nice.

I was on the depo when I got pregnant and had been on it for a while, along with a few people I know. And a couple people have told me that it made them have like a non stop period. Really light and everything but for the whole three months and a little while after.

I had the depo for 3 years no weight gain no bleeding nothing xxxx I found it to be amazing xxxx it depends on you xxxx dont let anyones storys make your decision xxxx get professional advice about all types of contraception and make an informed decision xxxx alot of weight gain whilst on any contraceptive is not because of the contraceptive its because of the food you put in your mouth and too little exercise xxxx it has to be yourchoice xxxx

An iud goes in you, you're thinkin of the birth control that goes in your arm. That's called the implanon.

Yes. They inject it into your arm but they give you a local anesthetic before. It is sore for a few days but you don't have to worry about it again until they have to take it out to replace it

I've only heard terrible things about depo, I'd definitely look for a different form, maybe an IUD, 3 or 5 year, but my sister in law had a terrible list of side effects from the IUD too the only thing I've ever had good luck with is the pill unfortunately!

Does the implant goes inside your skin right?

The depo made me put weight on, other than that it was fine for me but everyone reacts differently. I had IUD but it came out. Personaly I would choose the implant as it lasts for years rather than months. There are lots of options available so it is worth doing some research.

I personally don't like the depo shot. It's horrible. It made me gain weight, bi polar, and just not myself.  I would suggest a iud if you're looking for long term maybe.
