*Diabetes and pregnancy*

So I'm 24 weeks today. I went to the dr yesterday and had an ECO done on the baby because I'm diabetic (i was diabetic before i got pregnant) and my dr said when your diabetic your baby is at a higher risk for heart defects..
Well everything came back normal but he's kind of a big baby. He weighs 1pound 8 oz and is in the 66th percentile. So my question is, has anyone had large babies due to diabetes? And did they have any trouble trying to control your babys glucose? Just wanting to hear other mothers experiences because I'm a ftm.

They told me the biggest issue is the size during delivery so they would take her out early because I did all the test and was fine and so was baby. She said the shoulder could get stuck or I could tear really bad she told me that today.  I'm on insulin too and ever since I started to take it my baby has grown so fast she is measuring a month ahead :(

My aunt and my sister both had diabetes during their pregnancy. My sister had it before she was pregnant she did really well it was hard for her to keep up cause she has always been like but if u check ur sugar and eat right always keep snacks you'll do great. My aunt son was 9 ib 6ounces she had to check her sugar to but when she found out she followed the rules did great. I failed my one hour so I go back friday for my three hour test to see if I have gestational diabetes.  I was born with sugar problems so im use to checking my sugar. Good luck
