So in your case how long did a refill last?
The question was how long does the refill last not how long till you throw out the diapers. I thew thhew
Them out every week. The system had a cut section and you retie to start a new holding.
I save all my bags from the grocery store. They go straight outside to the big trash can. Yuck. Diaper genies are smelly! I had one w my first and I culd smell them so don't waste your money.
I found a site to convert trash bags into the baggies they come with. You just need the refill holder and a rubber band. This is cost efficient and good for hygiene because you can take it out as often as you like.
Thank youuu see I'm not just looney. I Had one with my first, threw that thing away. And take her diapers out everytime. Like you said you get used to taking it out side
^Agreed, it's not like you're dirty because you can't smell it, it's like when you just cook dinner and you can't smell the aroma of it 3 hours later, then get a visitor that walks in and says it smells good in here! And you're like what? Haha. except not as pleasant.
For those who can't smell it, let me offer this. If you use a Diaper Genie, when you're about in mid-cycle, ask a friend you know to be very honest to come into your baby's room and ask if she smells poop.
I actually had a mom tell me how much she loves her Genie, she said it's so convenient and you can't smell it at all, but when I went into her baby's room it was overwhelming. She kept a really clean nice house, it's not like she was a filthy person, she just couldn't smell it.
I'm telling you, those who don't live in your house will smell it. Just sayin'.
You can definitely still smell them, and no way I want to change that thing after diapers have been sitting in there a month, a week or even a day, we had one for my son and went through way, way too many refills because I was grossed out leaving diapers in there for any longer than a day or two.
We only use ours for poopy diapers. The regular trash gets taken out enough that wet diapers don't smell up the house. That way it helps with the worst diapers, but we aren't breaking the bank on bags. My son is 14mo and we've gone through less than eight refills.
We have one, used it with our first child and have it set up for baby boy when he gets here! We loved it and no we didn't smell anything. Ours is the diaper genie elite 2
I'm with RockRose... They are going straight out to the garbage. It's what my friends who have used both methods suggest. She is also right that you get used to the smell, but other people will notice. I know it doesn't sound realistic, to take it to the garbage outside every time, but it's just what you get used to. I was told by everyone that the diaper genie is just a money sucker because of the refills.
The on I got is small... I do.t think a months worth of diapers could fill it... maybe a fews days.. I never tried it but I had heard they r good...
Why not just take diapers outside to the outside garbage? I saw another thread like this today, and remembered people who use these - you CAN smell them, but people who own them get used to it so they can't.
Diapers shouldn't be kept in a container inside a house for a month, inmho, because people do smell it.
How is that not clean they r in a plastic thing where u cant smell anything and no bacteria gets out...? Makes no since
How is that gross the diaper genie u can't smell a thing.. and its way better then putting them in the regular trash and smelling up ur whole house with 2 of them in there.. whoever invented the diaper genie is a genius :) lol
For informational and cleanliness purposes. Shake my damn air freshner. Gross
Breee08 if you were not trying to be rude why make the comment SMDH...
I got one too Frm a Friday I was wondering that too. Nd its not gross if they don't smell.. which is.wat diaper Genie.does...
If you haven't bought the genie yet, buy a diaper champ instead They use regular trash bags instead of the refills and only need to be emptied about once a week.
Seems kind of gross to have month old diapers sitting in the house, no offense
We use one a month now but when she was little 2 a month. Get them at bjs or a wholesale place.
Way too many. I stopped putting bags in it when it ran out with the ones it came with. just take the whole thing out to the garbage and open and dump it
