Please say its not possible!

Ok I'm 35.2 weeks and last friday I went to L&D because contractions and cramps. They said it was just false labor. BUT the doctor said that she doesn't think I'll be having this baby anytime soon. She thinks I will be overdue. My question to y'all is, do you think the doctor can really tell when I'll have the baby just by checking my cervix?

Yea that's what I was thinking. I just don't understand how they can say I'm going to be overdue just by checking cervix. I was only 35weeks when they said this. I was thinking you can't tell if I will have baby in 5weeks or 7weeks just by checking cervix. I was thinking the cervix was more of a days thing, not month plus.

Well yea, that's how they tell if you're progressing, if your cervix softens and opens (dilates) at all. Just bc they said not anytime soon doesn't mean you won't on ur due date though. You still have 4 weeks...
