Did anyone get pregnant soon after D&E?

First of all, this is my first pregnancy. Prenatal screening (ultrasound+blood tests) found risk 1:3 that my baby has Trisomy 18 and 1:82 of having Down's syndrome. I am waiting for amnio in a week and even though I do try to keep some hope, I've been preparing myself for the worst ever since I talked to the genetic counselor. I am 23 and I don't know of any chromosomal abnormalities in my family.
Trisomy 18 is a fatal condition, meaning my baby may die before even being born or withing the next weeks after birth. I decided I cannot watch my baby suffer and die. If the amnio comes out positive, then terminating pregnancy would be the likely decision. I've been having extremely hard time coming to terms with this, crying everyday and thinking how unfair it it to try to conceive for 2 years and then having to end such a desired and first pregnancy, but the thought of having another baby gives me hope.
As far as I know, they use D&E (little different from D&C) or induce labor. Other then the thought of living with and overcoming such a heartbreaking decision and loss, I've been having fears of not being able to have a baby after having D&E or some other complications. I don't know why but I am just having these worries. We really want to have a baby and so would probably want to try again.  My question is how long (if any of you had this procedure done) did it take your body to go back to normal? Where you able to conceive after and how soon?

Thank you all for your responses, really appreciated.
To those who wrote about D&C, D&C is only for first trimester abortions and not the second one. As I am in the second trimester now, I would need D&E. So my question was about D&E, not D&C.

D&C and D&E are very different

D&C uses a suction to take out the products, its not as rough on the uterine wall and is less risky than the traditonal d&e.

D&E uses a tool that scraps off the layer of the uterine walll..

I would speak to the doctor to see if both options are available as a d&c may be now since they are more and more common now..

I had a d&c and my doctor wanted me to wait 3 cycles.. I waited 2 cycles then tried again but didnt get pregnant until after the 3 cycles anyways...  I got pregnant in my 3rd month of ttc, which was about 5-6 months after the d&c

Your Dr. is going to tell you how soon you can try. I just had a D&C on friday and my Dr. said to give my body one normal cycle and that after that I can go ahead and start trying again. He said they use to say wait 3 months but that research says one cycle is adequete, but still ask because I dont know if it is diffrent for a D&E. Also, it depends on when you feel ready emotionally!

if you let your body do it job naturally then you can start trying again shortly after. If not then normally a Doctor will say 6 mths.

My sister lost her 1st baby at 18 weeks, she had a d&c.  Her Dr asked her to wait at least 6 months for her body to get back to normal.  She was able to get pregnant again.  I would ask your Dr what his opinions are.
