Hubby and I went to the ER earlier today because of severe pain in the area of my left ovary, no discharge or bleeding just the pain. I've had ovarian cysts before and it feels the same so I figured we'd go in and make sure the baby was alright and see if there was anything they could do about the pain. I ended up getting blood drawn, urine tests, ultrasound, everything. At the very beginning of the visit we checked the baby's heartbeat with a doppler and everything was fine so I was really just wanting to know about the pain on my left side.
Three hours later I see a doctor to "discuss my tests" and he lets me know that the baby's fine, which we'd already established, but they couldn't get a clear picture of my ovary but it was likely that it was an ovarian cyst or really bad round ligament pain. Or at worst kidney stones. There's not really anything they can do unless I want something for pain. I'm okay with that, I really am, as long as we've determined that there's nothing wrong or harmful to the baby then I'm not too worried. So we start the process of discharging.
Well, when the nurse comes in to discharge me he lets me know that the doctor has filed me as a "possible miscarriage" and gives me a list of things to look out for and what to do. After a U/S tech, another nurse and the doctor all said the baby was fine I'm told that I'm possibly having a miscarriage? Is this just something they give out as a CYA because being suddenly handed the paperwork for it when everyone assured me that everything was fine is really worrying me. Did I miss something here or did they intentionally leave it out?
