I've been told not to eat norr drink, only sip a little water, i however completely understand this cos they want to see before lucozade and after how your body breaks it down and reacts so surely you can go just a few hrs to see if your in that category at risk...
I was told to eat a normal breakfast before, so I did, then I failed it. Went for my 3 hour and passed.
@KMahoney2112 well that's what I was craving and they didn't tell me not to eat certain things before I got there..lol (: it had no affect on my test. As long as you don't have anything but water during the one hour its supposed to be fine..that's what they told me
I wasn't even told in advance that I would be taking my glucose test. Eating before matters more with a typical glucose test, but the pregnancy glucose test it isn't as big of a deal. They can account for you having eaten be for the test so mommies to be can still eat.
They are looking at your blood sugar levels, so obviously eating sugary foods will heighten them. My dr said that protein was fine to eat (eggs and bacon) but to avoid sugary foods. I'm surprised that the slurpee and donuts didn't affect the previous poster because that is a lot of sugar for your body to process.
I didn't have to go hungry they just said nothing but water during the 1 hour. I was drinking a slurpee, & ate 2 donuts before i got there and passed mine. So I don't think that has anything to do with it (:
It's really best to go on an empty stomach. I drank a little water before I went.
No one told me I wasnt supposed to eat when I had mine so I ate a whole meal but I didnt have anything sweet and I passed
