Does quickening feel like this???........

I am 20 weeks along and anxiously waiting to feel our baby's movements... we know he's active because he was going crazy on our last ultrasound (at 18 weeks) doing somersaults and waving his arms and legs around the whole time. My placenta is at the front of my belly, so my doc said it may be cushioning the movements and making it hard to feel them. Sometimes I think I might feel something, but then I think it's probably gas! Lately I've been having this feeling way down low, like at the very bottom of my baby bump, that feels just like vibrations. It lasts for like 5-10 seconds and happens several times a day. Is this what the "fluttering" is that everyone talks about? It's so low in my belly... is that normal? I've heard the vibrations may be due to increased blood flow, too??... I was hoping I'd just have this magical motherly instinct that would say, "yep, thats the baby!" and have no doubts about what I was feeling in there, but I'm just confused!! Any thoughts?? Anyone have that vibrating feeling?

mine started very low and continues to be mostly below or around the belly button.  i'm starting to now feel baby wider and stronger.  externally, it feels like big thumps (at first it was feeling like vibrations) and internally it feels like a fish or butterfly in your tummy.  i'm sure that's what you're feeling!  i was like you...at first i was iffy and curious, but within 5 days of my suspected sensations, i felt it stronger and was positive what it was!  wait till you get to actually watch you belly punch and shake.  that started for me about a week ago between 21-22 weeks...  to me, that most exciting parts of pregnancy is baby movement!  i smile ear to ear every time i feel her...sometimes i even cry!!

When I first felt both my kids it was really low in my tummy. It's normal to feel it low is what my doctor said. Sometimes now though, it feels like this baby is going to kick his foot out! lol

-What your describing sounds just like its the baby moving around lettin his/her mommy know they are down there! =]

yes, mine felt like vibrations/flutters at the bottom and to one side sometimes. this started around 14weeks or so. Then in the last week I've felt "THUMPS" the same type of feeling if you were to thump a full waterballoon in your hand and then the water swishes as the balloon jiggles.

I'll feel a "thump, swish" it's odd, like being on an elevator. but this last few days my stomach has been killing me because my uterus is growing like crazy.

I am pretty sure that would be the baby.  Mine was really low too, just above the pelvic bone...and if you think of it that is where the baby should be.  It will be quick flutters at first and very inconsistent, then when you get further along they will be little punches and more consistant.  Then when you are huge, you will see the baby shift sides and roll around.
Congrats, you are getting to the fun stage!!!
