Does being induce hurt ?

So yesterday at my doctors appointment I was told if that my water doesn't break on its own by 40 weeks they will induce me and not let me go pass my due date bc of the complications I've had during my pregnancy and still am having, I want to be mentally prepared if they have to induce me so I want to know what is the process of it ?

From my opinion  being induced does hurt worse than natural labor...my water broke with my first but my second..i was induced at 39 weeks and 4 days. ..the pain was way more intense...my 10cm pain for my first was my 7cm pain for my second

Based on my recent induction with second baby she was born 6 weeks ago my water broke and no contractions they let me wait until contractions would start they never did after a few hours later that I got there so they induce me but they went right away with the pitocin they didn't do the pills to soften my cervix probably bcuz when I got there I was 3 cm but no pain just theat mywater had brokenin little amounts it hirted so bad my first child contractions came on their own but this one they induce me and I felt it hurted even more when strong contractions started coming...getting induce I personally feel is more painful

No problem. I was terrified of the whole burthing process with my first but I remember saying after, it really wasn't as bad as I thought. Btw your water may not break until your in labor. Mine didnt break until I was 6 cm with my first. As long as you can get those contractions started, you're good to go :) Good luck, cant wait to hear your labor story in the coming weeks.

The only painful part was contractions and gettting the foley ballon for me. After my epidural, I was fine. They use an instrument that has a tiny hook on the tip that assists in puncturing the water sac. It wasnt painful persay, just uncomfortable like a cervix check. Once you hit 37 weeks, you can always try natural ways to induce your labor. Hopefully youll just go into labor on your own, but if not dont be afraid of getting induced.

Every induction does not go the same for every woman, but most of them start out the same so I can give you information based off of my induction with my 2nd baby. You will most likely come into the hospital and fill out paperwork and answer necessary questions. You will then be hooked up to an IV with fluids. They normally start out by inserting a pill into your cervix. Either cytotek or cervidil. The pill is used to soften your cervix and help it dilate. It works for some women, and others not. In my case, after trying the pill 3 times, it wasnt working so they started me on Pitocin. Pitocin is a medicine that goes through your IV and its job is to start uterine contractions to help you dilate. It causes very frequent and strong contractions in a lot of women which is why some women say bekng induced is more painful but it just depends on how your body reacts to the pitocin. In my case, pitocin alone failed. I was still 2 cm after all of that. They then inserted a foley balloon into my cervix. It is an istrument that blows up like a ballon inside ur cervix and it falls out once u reach 4 cm. That, along with the piticin finally worked for me and doctors broke my waters right when I reached 4 cm. After that, it was just a waiting matter. At 9 cm I was preparing to push and out came baby. My induction took 3 long days. Hopefully yours is a lot quicker. You will not be aloud to eat during your induction so eat a nice full meal before you go in if u end up getting induced. Hope I helped you a little.
