7w5d preggo bleeding with SMALL clots and threatened miscarriage

I went to the ER with bleeding but it wasnt anything heavier than a period. I was passing small clots. Since that night I have not had any more cramping and the bleeding is tapering off (5 days later). They said that they couldnt see a sac or anything. My hCG levels at the ER was 5000. I went back today for more blood work, when the doctor called to let me know what my count was all they said was "slightly lower" and to come back in a week to see where im at. Is this normal?

Also I havent passed anything that looks like a sac or baby... what are my chances of carrying this baby to full term?

This discussion is related to 7 weeks and no sack or a baby, please help.

At this point though, you should get an u/s done to see if there is a sac and the heartbeat :)

I had a few issues similar to that; I went to the ER @ 8 weeks because of spotting and I was told I was having a threatened miscarriage and then I saw blood and a couple of clots the size of a dime, they appeared after sex and I was about 10 weeks. I called my doctor and her told me that when your pregnant you can have an increased blood flow to the uterus and sometimes even produce clots without it being a miscarriage. Anyway long story short.... im 18 weeks and 3 days with a baby girl.... If you feel really uncomfortable I would go back to the ER and have them do another sonogram...

In most cases if the numbers are dropping, it is be a bad sign.. it can happen where they go down then pick back up again.

it definitely could have been a miscarriage.

As kiddumz, said it can happen but with numbers dropping (accompanied with bleeding), it is the exception not the "norm" for a person to carry to full term

Best of luck that it will turn out positive

Actually, I had a similar situation to this a few weeks ago, and I discovered that your levels CAN fluctuate and you can still carry to full term with a healthy baby.

It is normal in early pregnancy for your levels to go up and down..

However, the bleeding and clots should be a concern. Just keep your head up and continue to be checked as often as possible.

Good luck (:

I would think you had a miscarriage. I know thats not what you wanted to hear. BUT if your levels are getting lower, it means you are losing the baby. Sorry. I don;t think I've ever heard of someones levels going down and carry the baby to full term.

well its still possible to carry a healthy baby with clots some times and sometimes it ends in a miscarry... I hope things turn in your favor and you see a heart beat real soon!!! God bless you... I am so sorry you are going through this!
