@Cr2- why not bleach?
@Les- Of course! Its hard to find a good one is all :)
oh and i just wanted to add that you should always get it proffessionally done when prego as your hair might not take as it normally would so its best to leave it to the experts... due to hormones and how they may affect your hair...but they know what their doing... or at least we trust that they do! lol
Dye it fine.do not bleach!
@Ash - I tried ammonia-free dye last time (done by a professional) and it washed out after a couple weeks! I ended up just using box dye and it stuck
@Les - Yea this new lady I talked to said most girls come in after first tri-mester n everything was fine.
Only thing is my docs clinic is SUPER against it. I haven't asked him directly, probably should.
I was talking to my GF who is a hair dresser, she said there isnt really any proof that its harmful as yes it involves chemicals but they are only on your scalp for a short period, she said if you wanted a safer choice, streaks would be "safer" as they dont actually touch the scalp... but as long as your in a well ventilated area there really isnt much concern...
Yep perfectly fine after the first trimester (and probably OK before that too)..just avoid henna dyes and make sure your hairstylists (or you) uses ammonia-free dyes as well...both of those absorb into the blood stream more readily than other dyes and are obviously best avoided during pregnancy :-). And as long as the salon is well-ventilated, shouldn't be an issue.
Other than that, go for it! I've dyed my hair with 2 of my 3 pregnancies with no problems...it can really give you a pick-me-up in those mid-pregnancy blahs!
I've never heard that everyone keeps griping about inhaling chemicals n whatnot. I would ask the stylist to keep the bleach at least an inch from my scalp, it burned the crap outta me last time! Lol. Thanks for responding so quickly :)
I've always done it and had no problems I think people just like to play it on the safe side and wait until after the first trimester, I think the reasoning behind it is that the colour/bleach comes into contact with your scalp so you will enevitably absorb some of it in
