Hcg level only 6. positive and negative HPT

Well my last period was on 06/26/11 on 7/30/11 i took a HPT and i got a very faint positive.(i was totally thrilled)  but my hubby wanted me to take another on the next day (7/31/11) and that one was negative. I took another on 8/2/11 and it was positive. well today 8/3/11 i started cramping really bad so i went to the ER. they did ant u/s and took blood. they didnt find anything on the u/s and they said my Hcg level was only at 6. The doctor said that my pregnancy could go either way that the hcg level really didnt mean anything. I just wanna know if anyone else had this low of an hcg level and still had a full and healthy pregnancy. I also had a m/c in december 2010. thanks.

Oh no! I'm so sorry this is happening to you! I bled nearly all of my first trimester due to low progesterone. I started on supplements and eventually the bleeding cleared up. My dd is now almost 8 months old.

I really hope that it turns out positive for you, but my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. Anytime you have bleeding in pregnancy, there is a 50% chance miscarriage.

Good luck, let me know how it goes. I'm praying for you!

The lowest I've known an hcg to render a positive reading was at a 7. That info was taken from peeon astick . com. Generally, anything above 5 is considered pregnant. Nothing will show on an ultrasound until your hcg is in the thousands. At this point, it really could go either way. I would do a follow up beta test with your ob/midwife as the numbers should be doubling every 48 hours.  As long as they're rising, you should be okay.

I'm sorry I can't be of much more help. My first hcg draw at 4 weeks pregnant was 199. You can't really go off of numbers either, you just have to be sure that they are rising. Good luck, keep us posted!
