Empty Sac Now Present?

I had a  medical abortion 2 weeks ago when I was 7 weeks along. I took the first pill in my doctors office and took 4 pills bucally 24 hours later. I returned to my doctor a week later and had a vaginal ultrasound. The doctor said that I still was very full of clots and was bleeding heavily. She said the pills didn't work properly and now that I was at risk for infection I should re-take the 4 pills bucally to get everything out. That night (1 week after the first attempt) I took the four pills bucally again but had absolutely no bleeding or cramping. I went to the doctor again a week later and had another vaginal ultrasound done. This time she said it seemed a little better but there is still a visible empty sac. She took my blood and will retake again in 2 days to see if my levels are rising and if so I will have to have surgery.

Is the empty sac normal? Is this the right course of action??? Please Help

Thank you all for your support and my apologies if I offended anyone regarding abortion issues. Some of us are forced to make decisions that are out of our control. I agree that abortion shouldn't be used as a form of birth control but I think that when doctors suggest this as the most appropriate and healthy decision then it may be done. Once again I apologize and appreciate everyones support in this very difficult time.

So sorry you're going through this. It must be very scary! Just give yourself some time. Get an ultrasound in another week or two to see if there's anything in the sac. If there isn't you will need a D&C. Many women here have had to go through that.

May I ask why you needed a medical termination of pregnancy? Was there something wrong?

You need to get a D&C to clear it out.  By the way...some women  on here may get offended about posts regarding abortions. (we do understand if there were good reasons behind it like no HB or things like that.)

Sorry if I sound harsh...

An "empty" sac means there is no fetus, so yes that is normal......If the pills didnt work then yes "surgery" is the right solution. Surgery you mean a D&C right?
