OMG you and me both. I cut my hair when my daughter turned like 8 months because she was getting tangled in it (it used to be down to my butt) and pulling it...and now it's starting to grow out again and I'm getting split-ends for the first time in my life. I think it's this weird dry air...we're in FL, we're supposed to be breathing water, not drying up!!!!

OK totally got it cleared up now...I didn't see the response being talked about, so I was confused....and I did ask my friend who's a nurse she agrees hair cutting is absolutely safe while pregnant.  :)

I think what people say about getting your hair cut and causing bad eyesight is not the fact that you are cutting your hair, but as another poster said the fumes in the salon. Just like smoking can cause problems with your unborn child, different fumes can too. If you know someone who can cut your hair, have them do it instead of going to a salon or make sure you're in a well ventilated area.

if that were true my boys would be blind. lol. my hair had to be cut every 3 months b/c of how fast it was growing. i even went for pedicures once a month. what i didn't do was dye it. which i'm glad i've stopped. i now remember my natural hair color and i have no clue why i was covering it up. lol.

i agree with Worried.  Its better to ask and get the correct information then to just not care, and brush it off.  Thats what I was told this site was for, so maybe the ones that dont believe that should keep to them selves. And from what I read your first pregnancy too. Wouldnt you feel better knowing the all the correct information?

Shorty- if you feel targeted and dont feel like you can express yourself on here, then feel free to just write me or worried(im sure she wouldnt mind) and we'll help you with whatever we can.  and sorry about her, this place was a wonderful place to be a part of.

i think you are referring to the girl asking questions? but whoever your talking to i dont think that is appreciated in here. any questions should be open...thats what we're here for..sometimes we ask crazy (not that your question is crazy short073) questions but it eases our minds to do this and i dont judge anyone for asking questions (hell ive asked crazy ones myself who cares) it doesn't mean we're gonna be bad moms it means we CARE...a lot.

I would worry more about the fumes from the manicure than the hair cut!!! hair cutting is 100% safe, but the fumes and chemicals used during manicures can only be used in an incredibly well-ventilated area...so make sure and tell the salon that you are pregnant and they'll put you in an area that has sufficient air flow :).

absolutely not true! Your hair is actually dead once it leaves the scalp, so there's no way that trimming the dead hair could have any impact on a genetic condition (such as poor eyesight)or affect any changes in the womb that would have an impact on physical sight (however things like STDs can affect the baby's eyesight if you are having a breakout and delivery vaginally...). It's the same concept as trimming your fingernails, and this is absolutely not a true statement that cutting your hair affects baby in any way...don't worry one bit, cut away :).

oh ive never heard that but i dont see how they could be in anyway connected...its gotta be a wives tale. my mom rarely ever cuts her hair and i have horrible eyesight. its mostly genetic (i get it from my dad)
