Thanks so much Lil! Lol@ craving the sweet potatoe fries. Ya never know! I think I'm going to take them as she prescribed. I would LOVE twins but I don't want to p!ss her off by taking them earlier just so I could up my chances of twins. LOL. She told me to take them from days 5-9. Guess I'll do what the dr. ordered. lol. Thanks again so much! :D
My doctor prescribed me 50 mg of Clomid to start and I took it on days 3-7. They say the earlier you take them that the higher your chances are of releasing two eggs. So some woman like to take Clomid on days 1-5 to increase their chances of twins even more. I do think its interesting about the yams. Now that I think about it I ate sweet potato fries this Spring as I was craving them everywhere we went. Hmmmm so I guess it could be either! Crossing my fingers for you Des_a_rae!
Lol Shayne, it's on again and I was trying to catch the part about the Yams again. Congrats on your little one!! :D Wow, twins on both sides, how exciting! :D Do you have anymore children or is this your first?
Angela, you're welcome and thank you so much! I hope it's the little "miracle pill" for me. lol. She's going to start me out with 50mg and if this dont' work she's upping it to 100mg. Does that sound alright, normal? I've never been this far into trying to conceive before and am soo nervous and excited at the same time. lol.
Thank you and best wishes to you, too! I've known several people who took clomid and were usually successful within 3 months...some with multiples! :-) I hope you have your little miracle or miracles soon!
i was watching that too this morning! i couldnt believe that yams of all things would help your chances, i'm staying far away from yams! i already have a good chance at having twins with having them on both sides of the family. I'm glad we already know the one we are currently expecting is definitely only one! Good thing i dont like yams! lol
Just heard about the yams again on the same show and they were saying it's the "skin" of the yams that contains whatever it is that could up your chances of having Twins. :)
I thought it was funny to. Now I wished I LOVED yams. lol.
Congrats Angela, I hope you have a healthy and happy 9 months! :D
SunWhorshiper, it hads to do with progesterone? Hmm! I should be eating sweet potatoes then because my progesterone was low last time they checked it and put me on those nasty vaginal capsuls. Yuck! I'd much rather choke down a sweet potatoe. lol. Also, my mother loves the yams like you like the sweet potatoes, with marshmellow on them. :D
Lil, I didn't catch what kind of yams, glad you know! :D I guess I'll wait on the yams since I'll be starting Clomid next cycle if this one doesn't give me that lil miracle! :) I'll take twins anyday but I'll wait on using the yams with the clomid as I dont want 6 babies at once. :| lol Although my family is always teasing me about having my own show. I'm the only "infertile" one in my family and I told them about the clomid and now all they can say, "I see it now...Des and Brian plus 9". "HA! Whatever" I tell them. lol. Congratulations on your twins! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months as well! :D
I read this too somewhere but I believe its only African yams that can increase the chance of multiples. You have to buy them at a special store because not many places carry them. The African yams can result in hyperovulation which can stimulate the release of two or more eggs. I'm having twins but I am thinking it was the Clomid that I was on to stimulate ovilation. Other than that I have no clue because I have no twins in my family!
I bet it has to do with the progesterone. With high progesterone you can release more than one egg (I think) and well tada! When I was ttc I ate sweet potato a lot bc of the progesterone, I usually have low so some months I was on supplements some I was not bc it was better but either way I tried to do my part the old natural way. Plus sweet potato with marshmallows on them, yum yum
That is funny. I have heard of foods to eat while TTC in general, but never specifically to increase your chance of multiples! I just found out I am pregnant w/ #2 (it was a big unexpected surprise), but I didn't eat any yams this month that I remember, hopefully it's just one more...LOL :-)
