Feeding a newborn.

Just a question about feeding bub. My girl is 5 days old and we had attachment issues so im expressing and feeding her by bottle. Is it better to wake her for a feed or wait till she wakes? She usually goes 3 to 4 hours. But sometimes when she wakes, by the time i change her and grab a bottle she has gone back to sleep. Not sure what im to do. Still trying to get a routine.  I had one midwife say not to wake her. So just want opinions/advice. If i dont wake her she can go 6 hours.

Thanks everyone. She shows all the signs of being hungry but then nods off again. Lol. Didnt know if i should be waking her then. But guess she cant be too hungry. During the night she is all over the place. 10 pm, 12am, then either 2am or right through till 5am. And decides she doesnt wanna go back to sleep. Its a tad frustrating waiting on a routine.
Ashleigh my nipples got so bad after just a few days. I just couldnt do it anymore. So i started expressing and we will try again in a week or so.

My doctor and the nurses told me to wake my son up every 2-3 hours to fees for the first month... I woke him up in the hospital... Since I have been home, I haven't woken him up. He goes to bed between 930-10, wakes up at 3 for a bottle & change, then back down by 330ish, and up again at 7. He started that schedule on his own & I'm fine with it. Lol. He's 3 weeks old today.

I agree with the other posters, I was always taught to never wake a sleeping baby. My brother wakes his daughter twice a night. I babysat her once and didn't wake her and she woke up sooo happy. When she wakes up at home after being woken twice, she's cranky. I never woke my son unless I absolutely had to.

I was always told by my family never to wake a baby to eat on a schedule. if their sleeping and get hungry they'll deff let you know. lol then again their portuguese and do things their own way.
it's kinda true tho, when they are hungry they'll let you kno. my uncle & his gf have their daughter on a feeding schedule but as she gets older ( 3 months now ) she sleeps right thru when she's spose to feed.
