High Risk 12 week NT Scan/Blood Screen

This is my 2nd pregnancy and I am 27. I went in for my 12 week NT Scan w/ blood work and the babies neck looked normal, I think 2.1 mm, and at 12 weeks they could not really see much more. At 14 weeks they called me back with the results and the doctor told me that my results came back abnormal and that my odds of this baby having DS was 1:140, which is equivelent to a woman over 35! The doctor said that my blood chemistry and the babies blood chemistry was abnormal....I was freaking out and crying! My last pregnancy was so normal all the way to the end, and no complications whatsoever. My husband or I have no history of chromosomal abnormalities. I feel like I may have done something wrong. I have another ultrasound at 16 weeks (8/24/11) and they will be looking for soft markers. Im really praying that the ultrasound looks good. I will not have an amnio and am willing to take care of my child whatever may happen, Im just scared for the baby and am praying that the baby is healthy. Any words of encouragment would be appreciated! Thankyou :)

My nt scan was fine. Nasal bone was visible and n. fluid reading of 1.6mm, bloods came back 1:390, Dr has referred me for a detailed scan and I'm quite stressed about this, any advise will be apreciated

Just got back from my ultrasound to follow up the NT Scan/Blood work and from the ultrasound we have normal baby boy!!! They will confirm the gender 100% in 4 weeks! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

With my first pregnancy my results came out abnormal, I did however choose to have the Amnio done. All turned out well and now I have a healthy 12 yr old girl! I have heard quite a bit of stories where there have been high risk indicators and babies are all fine... Just remember these tests are NOT 100% accurate and are NOT telling you that your baby has Downs or any other birth defect. Its also a very good sign that the scan and neck measurements came back within normal range! Try not to worry (easier said than done i know) I am sure all will be just fine.... i will keep my fingers crossed for you and your little one!

My NT scan was abnormal with my daughter and she ended up being completely healthy! ive known some women who have that the same problem as well! Dont stress about it! Good luck!

Thankyou for the reply. I chose not to have this stuff done with my 1st child because I did not want to go through all the stress with my first child and she was completely healthy! Im just trying to be positive and hope for the best. :)

these tests are known to have a high 'positive' rate and to stress women out -- it's one of the reasons why i am doubting whether i should even have it done myself. i am the kind to worry and worry and worry and the truth is that they cannot be 100% sure that your baby has DS until it is born (i have a previous post on integrated pregnancy screening if you want to check it out -- quite a few women reported inaccuracies and stories of people thinking their baby would be born with DS and the baby was healthy!). i really feel for you. try to think positive and relax. sending hugs.

if u want to keep ur child , then dont listen about what they said, this is ur baby healthy or not . dont worry about their reults , because u can go throw whole pragnancy and have  healty baby. they are just saying these thing that way later on no one tell them why u did not say so. ur baby is healthy , be positive and relax , and if i were u i would not even bother for amnio test. just go a head and buy baby  cloth and have fun. :)
