Fetal Anatomy Scan, take 2

Hi everyone, I just received a phone call from the doctor's office and they want me to go get an ultrasound again because they were not able to get all the images they needed of the baby's heart. This has me a bit worried. I asked the nurse if it was something bad, but she just said that they were not able to get the images during the time allocated for the ultrasound. She said there was a heartbeat, so that's good, it might just be the ultrasound machine wasn't working well that day. She said other people also have to go back and get more images. I am such a worry wart, I can't help it. Now I have to wait another month for that ultrasound and to find out news about it. What really sucks is that I have to drink the 32 oz. of water again. That was so bad for me, I felt like I was going to burst!!!

Yup, it's such a relief to see or hear your baby in there.  There's just something special about being able to actually see your baby moving and kicking inside... it makes me relax a little too.
I wouldn't feel too bad about missing work... I started worrying about it too, and then realized that any good boss has to understand the amount of appointments pregnant woman have during their 9+ months.  Since April 16th, I've had 3 appointments...  so I understand what you mean about missing work.  =)

Thank you for the well wishes! I'm glad nothing was wrong with your baby, wendy80. It is nice being able to see the baby often. I am only 19 weeks and I've already seen him 5 times on ultrasound. This is because I have had bleeding and I go in to get checked everytime and each time the baby has been fine. I have a total of 3 doctors appts. in May. I feel bad for having to take off work so much, but at least I get to see my baby or even hear the heartbeat.

I was one of the lucky ones that didn't have to drink gallons of water before my ultrasounds... I think it must depend on the doctors/technicians preference.

I had to go back last week and have a second ultrasound too (they called it a level 2 u/s) b/c they saw some scar tissue on my uterus.  It ended up being fine (well, fine in terms of not affecting the baby or the delivery)... so it was nice to see my baby girl again!  I love the ultrasounds too... I wish I could check up on her every week to see her progress.  I get to go back again in 6 weeks for another checkup (I'll be around 28 weeks at that point).  Good luck to you!

I know! I heard that some people don't have to drink the water. I wish I didn't have to drink it,  It feels horrible when you have to hold it in for so long! Count yourself lucky if you are one of the ones who doesn't have to go through that.

that sucks that you have to go back again, hopefully they can get a good view of his heart this time..i wonder why some drs make you drink so much water..i know so the bladders full so they supposedly can get a better look, but i didnt have to drink anything before my scan..

I'm having a BOY. I'm not really worried anymore, I just did at first but now I'm fine. The bright side is that I get to see my baby again! I love seeing him on ultrasounds!
