Fetal Echocardiogram?

Hi everyone,
At my last ultrasound when I was 17 weeks, my boyfriend mentioned to the ultrasound technician that he had a heart defect when he was little and had open heart surgery because of it. The ultrasound technician and a doctor came in to talk to us, they checked the baby's heart and from what they seen it was fine and beating the way it was suppose to so I wasn't really worried, until the doctor suggested I go see a pediatric cardiologist to check on the baby's heart sense they specialize in stuff like detecting heart problems and such. So I made an appointment for next week April 10th 2013 and I'm not sure what to expect, I'm very nervous and kinda worried, because if the father of my baby had a problem, she has a high percentage of having that heart defect also :/ Has anyone else had a Fetal Echocardiogram? If so what do they do?

Yeah ill Definitely ask! Even though it's being done by a cardiologist I'm sure he will understand, she's gonna be a lot bigger now then what she was at 17 weeks lol

My baby was in a really bad position and wouldn't turn over so no I didn't get any pictures that time. If they can get a good profile pic they will usually print you a few, never hurts to ask.

Thanks for letting me know, I was just worried. I know when I called they said they wanted to do a few test on me also sense I used to be a patient there, so I have a feeling its gonna be a long appointment, but I want to make sure that my baby girl is ok. Did you get pictures during the ultrasound or no?

Yes I had one. Its pretty much just an ultrasound but they are only focusing on the heart. They go through and make sure all 4 chambers are there and the valves are working correctly and blood is flowing through. They just check it from all different angles and the doctor will come in at the end and let you know if they found anything abnormal or not. Usually takes around an hour to hour and a half depending if babies position is corporating.
