Fetal Heart Rate

Hello.  I am 13wks, 2 days pregnant.  At my last appointment (12wks, 3 days), they were able to hear the heatrbeat with the doppler, and it measured at 140bpm.  The had measured it 2 times prior to that by ultrasound, and it was measuring 162 each of those times (one of which was just two weeks before).  I was wondering if I should be concerned that it decreased so much.  I know it's still in the normal range, but that seems like quite a drop.  Any experiences / input would be appreciated.  Thanks!

The heartbeat will fluctuate as everyone has said.  It does depend on how far along you are but it also depends on how active the baby has been when they listen.  The more active the baby, the faster the heartbeat.  Some days they are more active than others.

Hey, I'm just the same I'm always worried about little things in the pregnancy.  My baby's heartbeat at 10 weeks was much faster than it is now, but it is still strong and fast, is what the doctor said.

Thanks everyone for your replies.  It has been a worry that keeps creeping into my mind since my last appointment.  This is my only my second pregnancy, and I had a m/c and D&C at 8 weeks with the last one.  So I worry about everything.  It's so nice to hear your supportive and reassuring words!  You ladies are all wonderful!!!

I read somewhere that the further along you get the slower the heartrate gets until it hits around the 140's give or take.

I don't think you should be concerned.  I am as far as you, and heard my baby's heart rate at 6 weeks 3 days it was at 167, and at 8 weeks 158. Then 4 days ago it was at 156. It can fluctuate and is usually faster earlier on and evens out through time. If there was something wrong they would have let you know. Try not to worry ^_^
