From thoughts of Miscarriage to Twins?

My husband and I found out that we were expecting through a home pregnancy test about February 7th.  I have been to the doctor every week since.  In every ultra sound there is a growing gestational sac but no yolk or baby.  I've been told I should miscarry every week but my hormone levels continue to grow after every set of blood work.  I was scheduled for a d and c on Friday when the doctor looked at me and said he didn't want to do it.  He said that sometimes people experiencing my same problem continue on to have twins.  Is this a possibility or has anyone else experienced something like this.  It is such a roller coaster and from week to week I just don't know what to think!

Check out www.misdiagnosedmiscarriage.com. I wouldn't schedule a D&C until you know 100% sure you're miscarrying. Just wait a couple weeks and get another u/s. It's probably TOO early!

i had my first u/s done at about 8-9 weeks. at first all you could see were 2 sacs. nothing else. the doctor had to actually push down on my uterus...area....to be able to see the little tadpoles as they were. lol. so it could be that it's still to early to see them. you could wait a few more weeks until you're further along and see if they're visable then.

Then it just may be too soon to see anything.  Give it more time.  Are your HCG levels doubling?

we haven't really pinpointed how far along exactly.  If I were guessing by my last cycle I would say about 6wks.

In 06 I had a blighted ovum. This is when only the gestational sac forms.  My hcg levels were also increasing however they were not doubling.  I was waiting to spontaneously miscarry but it wasn't happening.  In my situation I had a d&c a few months before and I didn't want to go through that again.  So I requested Cervadil(??? spelling), anyway they are tablets that you put on your cervix.  The medication induces a miscarriage, and you don't have to go through the surgery.
I'm glad your doctor is waiting.  But the medication is another option to d&C if it's necessary.
How far along are you?
