You need to speak to your doctor, and you also need to STOP checking yourself. You don't sound like you actually know what you're looking for, and if you are dilating you can put yourself into preterm labour.
Excuse me. I don't check myself always I was up there for other reasons and I noticed it was open. This is a website for help and not for people to be jerks.
You should call your dr and let them know about the discharge and possible infection. Infections need to be treated or they can cause preterm labor. If they check you for an infection they can also take a look at your cervix and make sure it's still closed.
At any rate try not to check or irritate your cervix just because like Clysta was trying to say it can cause you to go into preterm labor. I've had tons of experience with preterm labor and the nurses at the hospital don't even like to check you unless they have to because of the irritation it can cause.
Call the dr for sure and get the infection resolved. It will put your mind at ease about your cervix as well. I know I'm 24 weeks and 1cm, but my ob said it's no big deal as long as I don't have contractions on a regular basis. Good luck!
I don't think the above poster meant for that to sound bad in any way. She is right tho it's not good to go checking regardless of the reason. One thing I did learn my first full term pregnancy is that checking the cervix can be very tricky. And how they tell if you are dilating or not depends on the doctor. I had a nurse tell me I was dilated, not even a week later the doctor said I wasn't dilated at all. I did however end up dilated to a 1 before I was 30weeks and it stayed that way until I was induced at 40weeks. You should go see the doc but even if you are dilated just a little that is very common and probably nothing to worry about. Hope this helps.
I'm not being a jerk. I'm being honest. It can cause severe irritation to the cervix, and you can make things far worse than they might be. Think about it. If you went into preterm labour, and this was why, would you ever forgive yourself? Regardless of why you're doing anything, there's not really a reason to touch your cervix. Let your doctor do it, it's what they're trained to do.
It's NOT recommended that you irritate your cervix so early in pregnancy, this is why doctors don't check you so early on unless there is reason to believe dialation or effacement has occured. If you were checking for thrush it really wasn't necessary to check quite so far in. All that aside, what's done is done, if you feel your cervix has dialated it would be wise to consult your doctor and see if s/he wants to check you just to be safe. Many women DO dialate a centimeter or two early on and stay that way until labor begins, most of these women go to full term before giving birth. I would recommend that (especially if you ARE dialated or effaced any) that you refrain from irritating your cervix any further as this can increase chances for further cervical changes.
well i wasnt checking my cervix it was just low that day. but me and my son are all good. his kicking awaay and the ultra sound tech said his head is down for deivery and his perfect. but she doesnt think i have an early baby as his so perfect.
