DADAT47 I only say heart shaped now cause thats what it was before pregnancy and thank you SO much cause my first OB seemed worried about it and when they first found out about it a few years ago they made it sound really bad.so thank you again for putting my mind at ease.
@SD_CALI They have known about it since I was 18 and they had to do a surgery to remove endometriosis. They told me the same things after i got pregnant but never sent mentor a specialist dr.
@SarahK088 did u just find out u had it? My Ob told me tthere's also a chamce of preterm labor or a c section but idc about the csection as long as baby is okay. They send me to a specialist doc and they check me every month im just really nervous I thought I was the only one with weird uterus thank you momma!!
Sarah, the pregnant uterus is like an upside down pear. Heart shaped is an arcuate uterus. Most likely nothing to worry about. Don't lose any sleep. It's the least risky of abnormal uterine shapes
SD_CALI im sure we will both be fine. My first OB told me he thought I may go into preterm labor but my new OB doesnt seem to think so. She said there is a risk but she doubts I will and with each passing day I agree with her.Good luck to you as well!!!!
Its can be placenta previa . Thats what i have ...... it causes heavy or light bleeding. Did she check for that.? She could see it in a unltra sound
Im 23 weeks and I also have a weird shape uterus which is called Bicornuate uterus. So far I haven't had any problems but I'm really scared as well on something happening!! Im just so scared. Good luck momma
DADAT47 thank you for the info it helped make me feel better! And by misshaped I mean the top is caved in forming a heart shape.
Kopelitsa's hubby here. By misshapen uterus, do you mean something like "bicornuate uterus"? Lower limit of normal cervical length is 2.5cm. Less than that warrants more cervical length surveillance by ultrasound up to about 28 weeks. A lshortened cervix accompanied by cervical funneling has a risk of preterm delivery. Notice I said RISK. Nothing is absolute. If you are short and funneling, you may need a vaginal swab to check for fetal fibronectin, which if positive, can be a predictor for preterm delivery. Check with your OB
Thank you! Just talking about it and getting feed back helps a lot to ease my mind.
I had spotting one day for no apparent reason..after being seen and ultrasound nothing was founded..however at the very beginning of pregnancy I had a subchorionic hematoma..and depending on the size they are hard to see on ultrasound. They typically resolve themselves. Wait to see what the findings of the ultrasound are..if you start seeing bright red blood go back to er..I've had a lot of unusual things happen with this pregnancy but all is well ..at 30+4 days..I'm sure things will be ok..update when you can.
We wont know until next tuesday when they do the ultrasound. Right now all I know is that I have a tilted and misshaped uterus. She did a vaginal exam because i have been spotting and said we need to get you into an ultrasound to check the leangth of your servix
They might just put you on bed rest..how short is your cervix? Message me if you don't want info public :)
Let me ask my hubby..he does high risk OB..i will post as soon as I find out.
@kopelitsa11 do you have any idea what they would do of they didnt notice it was short until 25 weeks????
Thank you ladies. I forgot to mention im only 24 weeks and ftm so im rather n ervouse cause I have already had many problems. My uterus is tilted and misshaped. Then my placenta was too low luckily my placenta moved up as weeks went by so with all these other issues it makes me nervous when I start spotting.
A short cervix Iis monitored by ultrasound every two weeks until you are 24-26 weeks..that's if it isint shortening to warrent a cerclage. If your cervix reaches a certain point that deems a cerclage is neccessary they normally place one in after 14 weeks. That surgery keeps your cervix stitched shut to prevent early delivery, however there are risks associated with this procedure as well. Ask you doctor for more info. God luck.
I had bleeding on and off during my last half of my last pregnancy and they could never figure out what it was. It felt like sometimes they weren't taking me serious either. But after I delivered they found out that my placenta was starting to separate from my uterus and it just wasn't showing up on the ultrasounds. So even if they aren't finding something it could be something to worry about. I'm just glad I put myself on semi bed rest and it didn't get worse.
If they cant see why you are spotting there isn't usually a cause for concern. I have had that happen to me at 27 weeks. I was just lucky enough to have it explained to me I guess. When they can see where the bleed is coming from is cause for concern.. As for the short cervix I am unsure.. I hope that I helped a little and that it put your mind at ease. Best of luck.
