First scan/sono

Hello there,

I got my periods last on March 23 and i have not got it till date. Yes i can relate to all those symptoms that a preg woman feels. I did visit the doctor after i did two preg home test and both came postive. Now the doctor has asked me to take a blood test and also come for scanning on May 23.  I will do my blood test tomrrow as there is no confirmation apart from urnine test as of now. Am i confirmed pregnant?

When does the scanning actually needs to be done? within 45 days? I am sure the blood test will give a lot of clarity but I hve been asked to do it once.

The blood test will just confirm your pregnant, even though your home tests are positve.they like to make sure.they wont be able to tell from the blood test if its eptopic, only a scan will show them this,if the blood test is low, then as previous poster said, they may ask you to repeat bloods in 2 days to make sure they are doubling.these days doctors like to scan around 5 weeks,or so depends on each doctor,if you have had problems before, then could be early.it dont have to be done within 45 days.I wouldnt worry you have 2 positive tests o congrats...

They will look at your numbers in your blood of the pregnancy hormone to see if they are high enough.  These numbers will help them know if you are actually pregnant or if it is ectopic pregancy or a chemical pregnancy.  They may ask you after the first blood draw to come again to make sure that the numbers are rising as they should.
