Thank you girls so much for your help! I feel a lot better now. I am not in the US I live in UK. Going to get the socks, lots of healthy snacks, drink lots of water and make sure I get up a lot! Will also try and blag my way to a business class as well vas you get a lot more leg room and seats ae a lot better than in the economy )))).
Helenk is the car travelling thing because of hospital insurance? Are you in the US? I've never been told anything like that and will be travelling around 5 hrs away from home to attend my cousins wedding 2 days before my due date! There are plenty of hospitals down there though and we have a national health service so I dont need to worry about insurance. The only real concern I have would be delivering my baby in a field in the middle of the Highlands with an ageing, toothless farmer more used to delivering sheep helping me out!! Lol!
Most doctors are ok with flying up to 32 weeks and nothing too long. After 34 weeks we're not suppose to travel even by car more than an hour away from the hospital which you're to give birth in.
I did flew around 29 weeks for my baby shower and I wasn't too bad. The flight was about 2.5 hrs.
As long as your doctor ok it you should be fine. Just make sure you get up every hour to stretch your legs and drink plenty of water.
I'm scared to death of flying so I'm not much help, BUT! When pregnant (or even not pregnant) it's a good idea to get some light compression stockings. They typically look like trouser socks and help keep blood clots away. Futuro is a brand that makes some, walmart has them in the pharmacy section usually. And Dr.Scholl's also makes them, they're in the sock section at walmart. They aren't terribly expensive (usually less than $15, the dr.scholl's are around $8) but totally worth it. I used them mainly at work to keep my legs and feet from aching because I walked 8+ hours a day on concrete lol.
I agree with Factorymomma - compression socks help a lot. Depending on when you clear customs, make sure to have snacks from home or to buy some at the airport. As much as I crave junk food and sweets during pregnancy, I found that things like trail mix were better for keeping me going during longer travel days. Also, water, water, water. Safe travels. :)
