I jsut STOPPED taking Micronor a little over a month ago...I took it for 9 months. I started taking it before I got my first AF after giving birth...I got periods everything month...mine usually came around the 2nd week of my pill pack...I have been on the minipills before and they didnt' stop my period then either. Nor have I ever gotten pregnant while taking mini pills
I took the micronor and had no problem with it. I didn't get a period on it, but I never got a period until I stopped breastfeeding after a year anyway, so for me it was the breastfeeding. My step sister was breast feeding AND on the micronor, and found out she was pregnant 2 months after her daughter was born. It has a failure rate slightly higher than the regular pill so you may want to try something like the Paraguard that was mentioned.
If you are fertile like I was back then, I would def use an iud. Get the paraguard. No hormones. I was very happy with it. Wouldn't get the Mirina because of the hormones, though. Yeah, I saw MICRONOR and started laughing.....lol.
According to the internet, the medicine can get through the breastmilk to the baby, but it also says that it hasn't been shown to be harmful. I didn't breastfeed my kids very long, so this wasn't an issue for me, but I would still feel funny taking hormones if I was breastfeeding.
I used an IUD after my second daughter (the doctors like you to have had at least one child before using an IUD). I only had it about one year though. If you are comfortable with your doctor, you should discuss any concerns you might have and see if you can use any alternatives. There used to be the diaphragm too - - I would assume it is still around, but what a hassle :)
WHAT???!!!! The last thing on my mind right now is to be pregnant again. Maybe I should try the IUD.
Grandma- Is true what you said, it is stil a "medicine" and the baby would be "taking" it as well. I should have this conversation with my doctor again.
Which birth control do you know that's most effective, besides of abstinence(sp) lol. I mean I know pills are out of the question, but what about the Mirena or the foam or shot, so many choices!
I had the joy of taking this pill after ds1 was born. I was also nursing at the time. When ds was six months old, and noooo period yet, I FOUND OUT I WAS PREGGERS. with ds 2.
From what I read, it is POSSIBLE that your periods could stop, but not necessarily. There could definitely be some changes to your cycle though. Personally, if I were breastfeeding, I wouldn't take the pill anyway. I would probably rely on condoms or maybe an IUD. I wouldn't like the idea of medicines/hormones going through to the baby, even if it isn't "harmful". But that is just my opinion.
