Both are very different. I have both of them. Food stamps you can get any foods and drinks of your choice where as wic you can only get what it tell you to get on the check
Thats a good way to start. Thanks
You can use foodstamps for formula too. WIC is a supplemental program and they dont provide enough formula to last a whole month but if you qualify for foodstamps they can be used for formula and baby food, rice puffs, yogurt melts.. all that good stuff for babies when they get old enough :)
I'm on WIC an they give me the checks... the difference is WIC tells you what you can get, they gave me this book that shows me what i can and can not get.. food stamps you can get what you want as long as it's edible and you don't spend over the limit. Most people get around $200 or more. And food stamps you get a card. :)
Wic now gives out the cards instead of the paper vouchers to make it more simple and discrete
Thats understandable! Thanks so much
Wic gives u vouchers for baby formula when baby is born. I don't think u can buy baby formula with food stamps
You won't be able to get baby food or formula or anything for the baby until the baby is born and you turn in the babies information. If you plan on staying on WIC after the baby is born they will allow you to use WIC until child is 5 years old. So no, you cannot stock up before hand. You prolly dont want to cuz not every baby can take just any kind of formula.
What about baby formula? Am i able to buy abd stock up with WIC?
Thanks ladies i got an understanding.
Foodstamps anybody can apply for but not everyone can qualify. Its a card you get that looks like a debit/credit card and you get the same amount each month depending on your income and household situation. You use it to buy whatever food you want as long as its link approved. For example, you can't buy already cooked foods in the deli area. WIC is something pregnant woman apply for and if they are accepted they get these. They kinda look like checks and you can't pick what you get. They have a small list of healthy groceries on it that you can get for free as long as the items are WIC approved. For example, you'll get 4 checks a month. 1 check says 1 dozen eggs least expensive brand, 3 gallons of 2% milk and one thing of wheat bread. Another card will say 2 gallons of 2% milk, $10 worth of fruit/vegetables, and 48 ounces of juice. Understand? Lol
You can buy any food or drink product with food stamps except alcohol and with wic it's only certain foods and certain brands
Wic is things for the baby
(Milk,cheese, fruit, vegetables, juice,)
Food stamps is a card that has a certain amount of money on there. You can buy whatever you want except for hot foods.
With foodstamps u can buy anythinh nd almost everything at the grocery store. With wic they only give u food nd fluidd that are giod nd healthy for u nd the baby mostly fruits but they wont have like a brownie or anything lol so havibg wic is shoping only healthy vs food stamps where u have a write too choose to get pure junk food if u wanted too
WIC I know you have specifics on what you need to get like brands and such. I dont think you have certain things you have to get with food stamps.
Wic is only used for basics like eggs milk cheese cereal some grains fruits and veggies but food stamps is like money on a card where you can buy any type of food.
