For those with a toddler and new baby - please advise

Hello, i have been looking around in baby stores to try and figure out what type of pram i should get that will be best once i have my two children.  Currently i have an 18 month old little girl (and am pregnant with number 2) and use a 3 wheeler that does not have a toddler seat attachment.  I was wondering if those who have the experience would think it would be better to get a pram with a toddler seat so that while out and about they can both be restrained (i do not want my newborn in a sling or pouch as i will be having a summer bub and it is too hot to have them attached) or would it be easier to have a pram that takes the car capsual attached to it so that the newborn is easier to transport without disturbing.  It would then mean that my toddler had to walk which she likes to do but i find difficult to controll (especially when number two comes along) in the shopping center.  She will only be 2years and 2 months and although likes to walk does get tired quickly.  I know this is long winded but prams are expensive and i really want to make the right choice that will be easiest for everyone.  Thanks.

Joy - The pram i am looking at is just like a normal 3 wheeler that caters for newborns (lies completly flat, wind/rain/sun/ protection covers etc) but you just attach a toddler seat to where the front bar that they hold onto would be.  It is really easy to get on and off and once the new baby is old enough o protest about not really being able to see you can just take the front toddler seat off and it is a normal pram.  the toddler attachment is only $65 so not too bad as apposed to the extra cost of a double pram which you said was a waste.  We would like to have 3 kids so it would get plenty of use.

Wouldn't it be nice to be really rich and just get every combination you could think of and try them all out.

Joy - what did you use in the shopping center (or i do i just have no clue and once you have two children you don't go to the shops lol).
Does anyone think those reins are a good idea?

The toddler seat would definitely last longer. I just don't know where you'd put baby unless baby can lay down flat (because of the neck muscles).

My personal opinion is that my double stroller was a sort of waste because my toddler does NOT sit in it, even if she's tired. So my little 1-year-old just sits in it by her lonesome.

also just had a thought - as the newborn will only be in the capsual for 6 months or so would a toddler seat be more long lasting or would by the time the 6 months is over my toddlers would then be 2 years 8 months and no longer need the pram - oh i don't know what to do.

I have a double stroller (basically two seats, one for each child---one reclines far enough back that an infant can lay down). This was nice... for a few months. Then my daughter decided running and walking was best. BUT we don't use it at the store. We just use it on walks.

So I would say that I agree with Atlantisea.

Get a pram that the car capsual fits into, and buy a step attachment for the pram so that the toddler can 'Go for a ride' and doesn't have to walk. It makes it fun for them, and really helps!
