No Menstraition after birth

My wife gave birth to our first baby girl on aug 2 2007,  it is now nov 7th.  And she still hasn't had a period.  we didn't have sex until about 8 weeks after and it has only been a few times and we have been very careful.  Before she was pregnant she was very regular.  any thoughts on what could be happening.  we are going to take a preg test tonight but just wondering now if there are any other possibilities

I agree with NewAFwife.  It has taken me as long as 7 months to resume my cycle after having a baby and as little as 2 months.  It is different each time (5x).  I do recommend taking the pregnancy test first thing in the morning though (with first morning urine).  Her HCG levels would be the highest at that point due to the urine being stored in her body all night.  I know the tests now days say you don't have to but I always test first thing in the morning.  They are more accurate that way.

She could be preggo (as you are more fertile after giving birth for a few cycles - so the studies say) or it could just be that she has not resumed her normal cycles yet (which is even more possible if she is breastfeeding).  I would take the pregnancy test just to be sure, and if it is Neg. call a doc to make sure she is still ok and all.
