Full moon to kick start labor?

I'm 39 weeks and 2 days, due on the 9th. I'm curious to all the ways to kick start labor (I am not trying them all either because I know of the dangers it can cause if my body isn't ready). I have been walking because I know that's a good way, plus exercise is always good, but I don't walk too far. Well, I was reading something that said a substantial amount of women go into labor around a full moon, which there is one this sunday. I found that really interesting so I looked into it and although there is no scientific proof about this, many women swear that the full moon broke their water. They would go for a walk under the full moon, or just lay out in it. Something about how the moon affects tides in the oceans, it can also affect the fluid surrounding your baby and add just enough pressure to break your water (that is just what the internet says). Has anyone else heard about this? I found it really interesting, and since I'm due on the 9th, I decided to go for a walk sunday night and see what happens.

I'm not sure, I can't really find anything on it. She said it was something her grandmother always said and she was a midwife almost all her life. I know these are probably old wives tales, but people swear by them. I know in the paegan/wiccan beliefs they believe in all this, but I can't find any good credible sources about the new moon one.

When I first read it I thought it was weird too, but then I found a whole bunch more stuff about it and so many women said the moon is what caused their water to break. They said it didn't start contractions though, just broke the water, and most of the women had to get induced to get the contractions started. I was talking to my friend and she said that her aunt said a New Moon can have the same effect, and that women conceive more around a new moon than they do a full moon. Not sure why, but the whole thing is so interesting. Hopefully the Full moon thing works for me :)

Lol. Some people swear by the full moon. It didn't work for me. I was 39 weeks with my son and stood outside under the  full moon for two hours and nothing. I was induced a week later. Good luck to anyone trying it. Hope you get different results.

I cramped a lot. My doctor said it's normal, but if it gets too much to handle then call your doctor or hospital.

It is tomorrow. My calendar said the 6th, but my fiance explained it says that because it happens on saturday night and goes into the 6th, or something like that. So yes, it is Saturday, not sunday. Brent decided last night that the baby was going to come tomorrow at about 3pm, so maybe the baby will come tomorrow :) *fingers crossed*

My hospital doesn't do that :( lol which is kinda weird since its strictly a woman's Ward. Its its own building right next to the hospital rather then on a different floor

I am due on the 14th of May and was thinking he would be a mothers day baby lol. But I've heard plenty of times that the Full Moon kick starts labor, and this one is going to be the closets full moon there will be all year. So if he was going to come early it will probably be then. I read the full moon is tomorrow tho (Saturday the 5th). Good luck everybody!!!

I always hated it because I was dealing with oncology (cancer patients), and it was almost gut wrenching to hear music of birth when I was almost always dealing with death.

Most hospitals play a snippet of a lullaby overhead in EVERY WARD when a baby is born :-P

I bet the music would get annoying after a while, especially on a busy night. The first time I heard it at the hospital I was visiting my Gma and I thought I was going crazy, but then they told me they always the lullaby when a baby is born.

The music is horrible!!!! LOL. But I've read it too. My water broke with both my other pregnancies but I can't remember if it was a full moon. I wanna say it was near a full moon.

I'm actually requesting they NOT play the music.  It drives me insane.

That's really interesting. I'll be sure to cancel my plans for that night lol cause as much as I don't wanna be pregnant anymore I don't want to encourage labor ESP.since I've already been having.contractions lol.

I'm really interested in the subject. I'm going to test it out and see what happens.

I also read on Yahoo answers where nurses would comment about how slammed they were with pregnant women and the dreaded music lol.

All I know is I hated working the hospital on full moons.... It was always crazy busy, and the maternity music would go off like once an hour for a good five hours. Lol yes congrats on the baby, but all of us in oncology are sick of the music!! Lol
