Future Fertility after stopping pills

Hi Doctor,

I am 25 yrs old and sexually active for last 3 yrs. I have never taken any birth control pills. We always used condoms. But now I want take pills for 4 months and then after that I want to stop it and become pregnant..I mean I want to conceive after those 4 mnths. How long will it take for me to conceive after stopping the pill. Please advice.

Why is the plan to go on the pill for 4 months and then stop?  I'm assuming you need to regulate your period?

Hi,

It can take anywhere from the moment you stop the pill - 12 months.

I am currently ttc #1 and am on Month 3 of trying - i am hoping this month is the month but if not will try again next month.

I was on the pill for 1.5 years, stopped in March this year.

Some woman can fall pregnant within the 1st 2 weeks of coming off the pill, whilst others wont fall pregnant for a number of months. With some woman it can take up to 12 months to fall pregnant. By then, you should have seen your doctor.

Remember, each month there is only a 25% chance of you falling pregnant.

The best way to predict you falling pregnant is to use a Ovulation Predictor Kit (OPK) to determine when you will ovulate. I used this for the 1st time this month & they work great. If i hadnt of used one, i would have predicted me ovulating at the wrong time!
