GBS testing and antibiotics...

I'm getting tested for GBS tomorrow and I hear a lot of women are positive for it and I waz wondering if I test positive can I still do water birth because they have to do antibiotics in the IV when yoir in labor every 2 or 4 hours I believe until the baby comes so the baby doesn't get infected.  Does anyone know if I can still waterbirth?

If you test positive you'll be hooked hooked up to an iv to administer the antibiotic. I was told you could move around with the iv. Thank God my text was negative (1 of 3 women test positive) because even though my birthing center doesn't offer water birth they encourage you getting in the tub for pain relief or getting in the shower. Praying yours is negative also.

I'm not sure but I am gonna ask my midwife about it. Personally I don't see why not but if I tested positive I would be choosing the alternative way that my midwife has suggested and I am having a water birth.

In australia they told me if i came back positive i wouldnt be able tp have my water birth due to the iv anti biotics they have to give. But when i first started on this app some other lady asked the same question and she was from america and ended up asking her nurse and they said it would be fine as theyd give her the anti biotics first and the  she can go on to have the water birth. So ask your hospital for sure and i guess it would also depend how quick your labor is. Best of luck hope you get your water birth. I didnt for my first and was pretty shattered as they had no water trained midwife on when i went into labor. :(
