If you can eat it, Activia yogurt does wonders! I had to take iron twice a day with my last pregnancy, and could not go with out it. If you can't, I'd ask your doctor about a stool softener or something else to possibly help.
I'm in my first trimester and it is also very normal to have gas, bloatedness and constipation, I have had all that and am bloated as we speak. Try and drink more because that really does help to keep your bowel movements regular.
my doctor told me to take them as often as possible, I've had chronic consitpation for 2-3 months. The prenatal vitamins I"m on vol-tab I d not know if they have a stool softener or not
I dont' understand your doctor telling you to take these fibre tablets (unless you have had a medical condition, which you said you don't). What Heather said is true your body will come to rely on those tablets and totally ruin your digestion. You need prenatal vitamins that come with a stool softner if possible as the Iron in the vitamins do cause constipation. Good luck!
Exercise also is a good thing to do when constipated along with more water consumption. Don't take fiber tablets all the time or you will get dependent on them for your bowels to work.
as for a medical problem, I don't know to be honest the doctor told me to take them weeks ago before I knew I was pregnant, I hardly eat proccessed food, I am more into fresh fruits, wheat bread and what not, I eat far too healthy. I have tried drinking more water (which seems to help minorly) and it seems the fiber tablets she told me to take are the only thing that seems to be working.
Is there a medical problem why you are taking them? Have you tried getting your fibre naturally?.Do you have whole grain bread, fruit? the less processed foods the better.
