Spotting

How do you know when spotting is more than just "spotting"? At what point does it become more than that and is considered bleeding?

Spotting is very light bleeding, which is usually brown, a darker red, or pink. I have spotted for 2 years for about 5-10 days before my period. When I bled bright red with a constant flow I knew I was on my period.
I am on fertility drugs and the past 2 cycles have had no pre menstrual spotting.

Bleeding generally requires the use of feminine products. Spotting is exactly how it sounds. Small amounts of blood that may or may not happen every time you use the bathroom and doesn't usually need feminine products.
