Gestational Diabetes - Need tips

It has been a week of me testing and trying to manage my Gestational Diabetes. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas on how to keep my fasting numbers down. That seems to be my only problem. : [

If you do these things, your blood glucose will stay more normal which is better for you and your baby. And focusing on the fasting levels, try having a snack like an apple and peanut butter or  a small jelly and nut or seed butter sandwich before bed. If your fasting sugars are running high you may need to adjust your plan of action whether it involves medication or insulin as well, so don't be afraid to keep your drs office informed.

Avoid processed foods like white breads, candy, and juices. Eat whole grains like brown rice, whole grain bread products and beans or legumes. Eat fruit and vegetables (better to have fresh or frozen). If you need a sweetener for tea or desserts or something, i would use agave nectar as it has a low glycemic index meaning it will prevent your blood sugar from drastic changes. If you are going to have something sweet or like crackers, bread, or white rice (processed foods), it is better to have it with some protien like nuts or seeds or cheese cubes or fish or meat, which will help balance and keep your blood sugar readings from going so high.
