Like @chefblu said, it's not just about avoiding sweets, keep your Carb intakes low and you should be fine. U can still have small portions of high Carb/starchy foods but try to keep it as minimum as possible.
I went today and they gave me information. I go back in a week showing her my food journal and my sugar levels hopefully they won't be high or abnormal. Thank you! I'm glad I'm not alone:)
I went to see a dietician and after talking to her I got a better understanding of gestational diabetes and she helped me with a meal plan. She also explained what to look for when picking out what I'm going to have for a meal and a snack. What really matters is the total carbohydrates. I got a prescription for a meter and testing strips and I have to check my blood four times a day. I have been able to keep my sugar under control through dieting and also working out so I don't have to worry about insulin. You'll be fine and feel a lot better after your appointment. Message me if I can help you with anything :) good luck! :)
Thanks I have a app today hopefully this will ease my mind:)
I also failed both tests and had to see a diabetic counselor. I was set up with a meal plan, check my sugar four times daily. My Dr wrote a prescription for the glucometer and testing supplies. Its really not as bad as it sounds. I was scared but with a proper diet you and your baby should be fine. Good luck!!
Thanks ladies I'm 30wks and i ended up just telling them to take me to a specialist for the GD and skip the 3hr. Because I feel like 30wks is kinda late to find out and do the 3hr again so I just wanna be safe than sorry. I'm already trying to stick on eating right. And @ chefBlu do they provide you with everything. Not gonna lie I'm nervous about this.
I failed both of mine.. the first one I failed only by three points. I have to diet and check my blood sugar four times a day and its really not bad at all.. you can try taking the test again but if you fail don't stress.
I wouldn't stress the baby by doing the sugar test....eat the Diabetic diet and get the glucometer
I agree. I would do the test again.
I would either try again, you don't necessarily want to be labeled with something you don't have cause it can put you high risk for future pregnancies; or I would ask if I could get a glucometer to monitor my blood sugar at home.
