I went and she did put me on a diet but my blood sugar is going up and down
sojo, are they not sending you to a dietician for advise? The advise you got here was good, but a dietician will actually factor in your weight, your level of physical activity, and your blood sugar levels and design a diet for you complete with amounts to eat at what times during the day.
What about wheat bread, 1% low fat milk, and English muffin
Avoid carbs as much as you can. They turn into sugar. Bull up on things like protein and veggies as they have little to no carbs. Cheese is low in carbs as well. Try to avoid milk, pasta, breads, and juices. Fresh fruit is okay, but avoid it in the morning. I had it with my first and was able to manage it with diet alone the whole pregnancy. Good luck!
Watch your milk! And pasta. Found out last night just how much your milk can spike you up. Lean proteins and veggies are alwayd good.
Hello! I too had gestational diabetes with my first and was able to control it with diet and exercise until around 36 weeks. I found that pairing any protein with what starch I did eat tended to keep my levels down. More significantly, not staying still after a meal. If I went for a brief walk or did the dishes and cleaned up, my levels always stayed under or close to my limits. I saw a dietician and nutritionist once I was diagnosed as well who was very helpful. I'm sure your OB can recommend one who specializes in gestational diabetes. Good luck!
